What is the Best Waterproof Hearing Aid?
We are sorry to report that the Siemens Aquaris hearing aid has been discontinued. There is currently no 100% waterproof hearing aid on the market, though there are a few very water-resistant hearing aids available. Please contact us for more information.
In the past few years, the demand for waterproof and water resistant hearing aids has really skyrocketed. Many devices are now certified as water resistant, but to be deemed a truly waterproof hearing aid, the device has to go through complete and rigorous testing, and of course pass those tests.
At this time there is only one truly waterproof hearing aid on the market, the Siemens Aquaris. Here is a great video overview of the various tests the Aquaris had to go through to earn the designation of “waterproof.” As you’ll see, it’s no small feat. The Aquaris is available in 2 styles, a traditional standard (large) BTE with tubing and a custom earmold, and a more discreet behind the ear unit for mild to moderate losses. Both models will use a size 13 battery.
If you need a hearing aid which is incredibly durable and has absolutely been tried, tested, and proven to be completely waterproof, the Siemens Aquaris is your hearing aid. At the time of this post, it is probably the most durable hearing aid on the market. It is not the most discrete hearing aid, but it will get the job done in a number of environments. When using the Aquapac case (which houses the remote control/streamer), you can even listen to music while swimming! Not only is this hearing aid completely waterproof, but it also boasts a number of state of the art features. The Aquaris comes in 3 performance levels, the 7 mi, 5 mi, and entry level 3 mi. All three technologies utilize binaural synchronization, which lets the hearing aids communicate with each other and truly act as a pair, making binaural and automatic adjustments to volume and other features. All three technologies have 6 programs, which gives you plenty of flexibility to ensure that your hearing aids sound good in every environment. They all work with all of the Siemens accessories available, and all have more than the recommended 6 channels.
The Aquaris is very well reviewed, and several people have uploaded their positive experiences with the hearing aid to YouTube. Below are some of the best videos I could track down.
- Young girl swimming in spa
- Man who upgraded to the Aquaris for its “tough” reputation.
- Woman using the Aquaris with the Minitek and Aquapac
If you think that the Aquaris might be a good option for you, you should have your hearing tested at a local hearing aid dispenser’s office which carries the Siemens Aquaris hearing aid. To find a provider near you, you can use this tool.
