Unitron Moxi Fit R: Smallest Rechargeable Hearing Aid

Just a quick update to all our subscribers currently wearing Unitron Moxi Fit hearing aids, or perhaps getting ready to jump into the hearing aid market. Canadian-based hearing aid manufacturer Unitron has recently entered the rechargeable hearing aid market with a pretty interesting new product- Moxi Fit R.

What makes the Moxi Fit R unique? A couple things!

  • It’s the smallest rechargeable hearing aid in the world! I was lucky enough to be able to handle this hearing aid a few months ago, and it’s a seriously small unit, but packed with power, which I’ll address below.
  • It actually has great battery life. The weak spot for a lot of rechargeable hearing aids is battery life, with many of our customers reporting they are getting only 8-14 hours out of some rechargeable hearing aids on the market. With the Moxi Fit R, Unitron promises up to 24 hours of battery, even with up to 90 minutes of streaming during that time.
  • All current Unitron Moxi Fit hearing aids can be modified to work with this rechargeable technology. Wear a Moxi Fit now? Take it in to your local provider and they can upgrade you to this technology!
  • It’s built on Unitron’s newest Tempus platform, featuring SoundCore, a group of intelligent features designed to make hearing in noisy situations easier than every before.

My thoughts on the new Unitron Moxi Fit R

I think this was a smart move by Unitron and is a great way to enter the rechargeable market. While hearing aids featuring built in lithium ion batteries have been getting a lot of press lately, there are still a lot of people who have concerns about the longevity of those batteries, and recurring costs down the road. In addition, relying entirely on a built-in battery, and not having disposable batteries as a backup option makes a lot of people uncomfortable. So I think Unitron, by offering this rechargeable option while still letting people use traditional disposable batteries if they’d like, was a smart move.

I am a huge advocate of rechargeable hearing aids and encourage most people to strongly consider them. They are more hassle-free than hearing aids that use traditional disposable batteries, more environmentally-friendly, and usually cheaper in the long run. I also believe that in a few years all hearing aids will be powered by some form of rechargeable batteries, so you might as well get on board now!

The Moxi Fit R is brand new, so we haven’t created product pages for it on our site yet, but stay tuned! In a couple weeks we’ll upload 360 degree photos, prices, more info on the different technology levels available, and customer reviews will start trickling in!
