Widex Unique Fusion vs. Passion

The Widex Unique line of hearing aids is one of the newest, and currently one of our most popular lines of hearing aids. The Unique family offers a full line of styles, from tiny, custom in-the-ear hearing aids, to large and powerful behind-the-ear aids. Among all these styles, the 2 that are most popular with our customers (and probably the most popular in general), are the Fusion and Passion models. But what are the differences between the two? Are there any drawbacks to choosing one over the other? Do they share the same technology? In this post we’ll outline the main differences in the Fusion vs. Passion model, and hopefully get you closer to deciding which may be right for you.

3 Differences Between the Fusion & Passion

  1. Battery size: The larger Fusion model is powered by a size 312 battery, while the Passion model is powered by a size 10 battery. Due to it’s larger battery, the Fusion is expected to last 135-150 hours, while the Passion, 90-95 hours.
  2. Push-button: As you can see from the photo above, the Fusion model has an onboard push-button. Although all Unique hearing aids are automated, many wearers like to be able to manually control the volume and program of their hearing aids on an as-needed basis, and having this push-button allows for that. Since the Passion doesn’t have a push-button, you’ll need to purchase an accessory if you’d like this extra control.
  3. Power: The Fusion model can be fit with high power receivers which makes it suitable for mild to profound hearing losses, while the Passion can be fit with only the lower-powered receivers, making it suitable for mild to moderate hearing losses.

Aside from those 3 differences, the technology inside both models is identical. Anything the Fusion model can do, the Passion can do, though there may be slight differences in how you use the hearing aids on a day-to-day basis. For example, with the Passion model you’ll need an accessory to change the program, volume, or access the telecoil.

Both the Fusion and Passion models are well reviewed on our site and are highly recommended. If you have a question or comment about these styles, or about Widex hearing aids in general, please feel free to post it in the comments section below.
