{"id":13080,"date":"2022-04-02T13:43:51","date_gmt":"2022-04-02T13:43:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ziphearing.com\/blog\/?p=13080"},"modified":"2022-09-05T15:15:08","modified_gmt":"2022-09-05T15:15:08","slug":"hearing-health-news-march-22","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ziphearing.com\/blog\/hearing-health-news-march-22\/","title":{"rendered":"Hearing Health News &#8211; March &#8217;22"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It was a relatively slow month as far as impactful news goes, but it\u2019s likely the calm before the storm.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the Academy of Audiology hosting their annual industry expo from March 30-April 2nd, we\u2019re likely to see several newsworthy announcements from manufacturers in the coming days, which we\u2019ll report on in April\u2019s post.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We expect at least one new hearing aid to be announced during this expo, but probably nothing incredibly noteworthy\u2014we\u2019re looking to Fall for that.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ios-15-4-update-requires-re-pairing-of-bluetooth-hearing-aids-to-apps\">iOS 15.4 update requires re-pairing of Bluetooth hearing aids to apps<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>iOS 15.4 was released on March 14th, and within days the calls began to come in\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cMy app doesn\u2019t work.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cMy hearing aids don\u2019t stream.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThese hearing aids are garbage!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We soon learned that the iOS 15.4 update breaks the established connection between the phone and the app, resulting in a black screen and prompting the user to pair the hearing aids again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This problem affected all major brands and models except those that use classic Bluetooth, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TA2PPmGJqaM\">Phonak Paradise<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019ve had this issue, here\u2019s the fix:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1) Un-pair the hearing aids in IOS settings with the app running in the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2) Re-pair your hearing aids with the app still running in the background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3) Go back to the app and complete the pairing flow as prompted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a good time to mention\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anytime anything wonky happens with your Bluetooth hearing aids and\/or app, the first step of troubleshooting should always be unpairing and re-pairing your hearing aids via Bluetooth.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If that doesn\u2019t work, almost all manufacturers then recommend deleting and reinstalling the app.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If that doesn\u2019t work, contact your hearing aid manufacturer via their Bluetooth support line.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"phonak-tv-connector-d-back-in-stock\">Phonak TV Connector D back in stock<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In what is hopefully a bellwether of the supply chain crisis easing, Phonak announced their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.phonak.com\/us\/en\/hearing-aids\/accessories\/phonak-tv-connector.html\">TV Connector D<\/a> accessory is now available.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re not sure how \u201cnewsworthy\u201d this is, but since so many of our customers are subscribed to our blog and have been waiting for this to be available, we thought we should announce it here.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This popular accessory plugs into TV\u2019s and other audio sources and allows for direct connectivity of most new Phonak hearing aids, just like wireless headphones.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most people use this accessory to stream audio from the TV wirelessly, right into their hearing aids, in stereo sound.
