{"id":13544,"date":"2022-08-31T22:57:47","date_gmt":"2022-08-31T22:57:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ziphearing.com\/blog\/?p=13544"},"modified":"2022-10-02T14:16:39","modified_gmt":"2022-10-02T14:16:39","slug":"hearing-health-news-august-22","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ziphearing.com\/blog\/hearing-health-news-august-22\/","title":{"rendered":"Hearing Health News \u2014 August &#8217;22"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It&#8217;s release season, and we got new releases from 3 of the big 6 hearing aid manufacturers in August. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"phonak\">Phonak releases Aud\u00e9o Lumity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Phonak has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sonova.com\/en\/media\/phonak-unveils-lumity-new-hearing-aid-platform-fully-immersive-conversations-virtually-any\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.sonova.com\/en\/media\/phonak-unveils-lumity-new-hearing-aid-platform-fully-immersive-conversations-virtually-any\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> their new line of lithium-ion rechargeable RIC hearing aids, <a href=\"\/phonak-audeo-lumity\">Phonak Aud\u00e9o Lumity<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aud\u00e9o Lumity is based on Phonak\u2019s latest operating system, AutoSense OS 5.0, and promises improved speech in noisy environments, and reduced listening efforts, among other improvements over OS 4.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-zip-gutenberg-zip-youtube zip-post-inside-video\"><div class=\"plyr__video-embed zip-youtube-player\" id=\"playerghzip\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/u9F2g-EOP8A\"><\/iframe><\/div><figcaption>Aud\u00e9o Lumity is a new family of lithium-ion receiver-in-canal style hearing aids.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Aud\u00e9o Lumity is available in all 4 technology levels (90, 70, 50, and 30), and in 3 different form factors\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aud\u00e9o L R<\/strong>: This is a receiver-in-canal style hearing aid with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and is the smallest of the 3 styles.&nbsp;It&#8217;s early, but so far this is proving to be the best-selling model of the 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aud\u00e9o L RT<\/strong>: Same as the above, but with a telecoil. This model is slightly larger than the standard L R model.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Aud\u00e9o L RL<\/strong>: Waterproof! It offers the same rechargeability and Bluetooth connectivity as the models above, but in a (mostly) waterproof design.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Side note: With this new release, Phonak communicated to its retailers that the release of the previously announced Aud\u00e9o Slim model has been postponed indefinitely.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"oticon\">Oticon releases new in-the-ear models, \u2018Oticon Own\u2019<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Oticon has been crushing it with their receiver-in-canal <a href=\"\/oticon-more\">Oticon More<\/a> hearing aid (currently our best-rated hearing aid), and we\u2019re pleased to see they\u2019ve <a href=\"https:\/\/pressreleases.responsesource.com\/news\/103085\/new-tiny-hearing-aids-launch-with-superior-sound-and-customised\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> that this technology is now available in in-the-ear models as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oticon hasn\u2019t released a new in-the-ear model since 2016, so this is long overdue, and means Oticon now has a product built on their latest Polaris platform in every style, and for every type and severity of hearing loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"\/oticon-own\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"\/oticon-own\">Oticon Own<\/a> is available in 5 different styles: IIC, CIC, ITC, and ITE half shell, and ITE full shell.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-zip-gutenberg-zip-youtube zip-post-inside-video\"><div class=\"plyr__video-embed zip-youtube-player\" id=\"playerghzip\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2DzUYFgSPNs\"><\/iframe><\/div><figcaption>It&#8217;s the first in-the-ear model from Oticonsince 2016, and we think it was worth the wait.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Oticon Own is available in 5 technology levels and <a href=\"\/oticon-own\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"\/oticon-own\">price points<\/a>, they all use disposable batteries, and the larger models (ITC and ITE), offer direct Bluetooth connectivity with iPhones and Androids.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"resound\">ReSound releases new family of RIC hearing aids, \u2018ReSound Omnia\u2019<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On August 16, ReSound <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20220816005068\/en\/GN-launches-new-technology-platform-to-address-the-No.1-hearing-aid-challenge-hearing-speech-in-noise\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">announced<\/a> the release of their new family of RIC hearing aids, <a href=\"\/resound-omnia\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"\/resound-omnia\">ReSound Omnia.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Omnia shares the same physical design as the previous ReSound One, with some interesting new updates&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the highlights of Omnia-&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>ReSound Omnia is made for hearing in noisy environments, and according to ReSound offers a 150% improvement in speech understanding compared to legacy ReSound models.<\/li><li>Omnia makes the user\u2019s perception of their own voice more natural, which contributes to a higher satisfaction with hearing aids.<\/li><li>For additional sound performance and comfort, ReSound introduces Check My Fit, a new, first-of-its-kind feature in the ReSound Smart3D App. It gives users guidance to wear their hearing aids correctly via a quick ear selfie.
