I was diagnosed with hearing loss almost ten years ago and kept putting off taking the big jump to hearing aids. The isolation of being hearing impaired and my grandkids frustration with my hearing loss pushed me in the right direction. I just started using ReSound LiNX2 hearing aids one week ago. They were highly recommended by the audiologist I saw for my type of hearing loss. Best thing I ever did! I love the ease of using the HA, the interface with my iPhone6, and the relative ease of adapting to hearing “anything and everything.” I do not have anything to compare to the ReSound as these are my first HAs, but I am one happy camper! Highly recommend them.
I have been wearing a hearing aid (in my good ear, no hearing in other) for 15 years. I've tried most brands including Widex (CIC), Phonak (BTE), Oticon (BTE) and most recently the Resound Linx2. Needless to say the Resound Linx2 is the best I've tried. Oticon was an excellent device, but when it was time to upgrade they did not have a Made for Apple device like Resound and Starkey had (last year). After some analysis and because Starkey's Halos didn't have a TV Streaming device, I went with Resounds Linx2.
I've had this HA for about a year. All in all, I would say it is excellent. Streaming music, radio or calls from my iPhone is easy and works great. I've never had an issue with it. The one thing I would note on this topic though is the app doesn't seem to connect automatically to the HA each day until you open the app; at that time it connects to the hearing aid and then any calls received will stream to the HA. If I don't open the app calls route through the iPhone. This is probably to conserve battery power but it is pretty annoying.
The TV streamer works very well. It connects immediately, something the Oticon never did (with the streamer I would wait sometimes a maddening 30 seconds or more for it to connect). Range is terrific, a full 30 feet around the streamer and through walls.
I tried the "favorites" feature in the app to program automatic GPS based programming but I get an error in the app when I do that so I haven't used it and I don't really care enough about it to see if there's a fix.
As for practical day to day use, it has been about the same as other hearing aids. I still have a very hard time hearing people, especially in noisy situations, but I have learned to live with this as best I can, and no hearing aid is going to magically solve this (beware of marketing which promises otherwise). Still, everyone's hearing loss is different, and if your loss isn't severe like mine is you stand a good chance to do pretty well even in noisy situations with today's technology.
The only other complaint I'd have about the Linx2 is the dome tips. I was given the medium and large dome tips to try, but both just will not stay in my ear snugly, which is required to avoid whistling and feedback. I have been trying dome tips from other manufacturers like Starkey and Oticon with better success but ultimately I may need to get a custom mold done for a fitted speaker dome. I'm not happy about this and I do think the Oticon fit better in my ear with their dome tips, but again everyone's ears are different and if you aren't amplifying as much as I am (80 db) you probably won't go through this.
The Linx2 has been surprisingly sensitive to water. I took an unexpected swim in the ocean with it (fell off a sea kayak) and it stopped working. I blew it out with a hair dryer and it worked fine after that!. Another time, I wore it in a jacuzzi, did not put my head in the water, but it stopped working after about 15 min. presumably from the steam (which wasn't much). I was pretty shocked. A nap in my hearing aid dryer (a MUST accessory!) fixed it. I would expect to see a bit more resiliency given all the hype about the nano coating on the device.
Last but not least, I plan to use my Linx2 with my phone at work (a Cisco VOIP phone). I will use the Phone Clip, which is paired via Bluetooth to the phone. I have tested it and it works great, I'm just waiting for my company to get around to rolling out the new phones. This will make talking on the phone at work much easier, as I currently have to hold the hand set to the top of my HA, which results in whistling and is very uncomfortable.
So, all in all I'm a happy camper. Since GN Resound is on the 2nd generation of their Made for Apple (and later Droid) devices I think they are ahead of the game. To me I would never go back to something that doesn't pair with an iPhone. If you can afford a Linx2 I think it would be money well spent, but be realistic about how much you really will use streaming, whether on your mobile device or TV. I am a true gadget nerd, and I really don't use the streaming on my iPhone as much as I thought I would. I do use the TV streamer daily though and love it.
I hope this helps. You're the consumer, so evaluate carefully and provide feedback to your dispenser and directly to the manufacturer so that they continue to make improvements! Also, put pressure on politicians (write Congress or your local political leader) to do something to help us pay for these things!
My Resound Linx2 9 hearing aid streams wonderfully with my Cochlear implant and accessories. It complements my hearing with my implant. When I first received my implant I was using my old oticon hearing aid which didn't stream through the accessories. With the Resound now I can stream and what a difference it has made. My phone conversation comprehension has improved at least 50%. I also hook it up to my Resound Multi Mic and stream my exercise DVDs through it. Music and podcasts sounds better as well with the addition of the Resound hearing aid. I like the ease of having the Resound app in my phone to switch in and out of programs and adjust volume level. I can also save adjustments for different hearing environments. I would recommend the Resound aid and its accessories and the app!
Just got my LINX2 9s today and WOW! I'm already hearing things I forgot were there. So far the process has been smooth and fast. looking forward to listening to music and TV without having to blast the volume.
The price through ZipHearing was great. It took some getting used to the iPhone adjusting of the hearing aides. The battery life is shorter than aide not controlled by a cell phone. It is nice to hear what is going on around me. The quality of the Resound LInx2 does not seem quite as good as my former hearing aide: however, they are behind in technology using a cell phone for adjusting. One aide has a slight screech when high notes are sounded in instrument music or singing. All in all I am satisfied.
I found the Resound LiNX2 9 to have a great natural sound quality. Having the choice to upgrade to the larger 13 battery to support iPhone Bluetooth operations at the same price as the smaller batteries was a nice suprise. ZipHearing is a great company to do business with and are very customer service oriented.
They sound great- I am just setting up the Bluetooth and it feels so good to be able to hear again.
My hearing aids were four and a half years old. It was time for new ones. The technology has improved enormously. With my old hearing aids, I failed to understand what was going on around me. In a group, I would be outside. In a lecture, I wasn’t in the room. I was always asking my wife: “What’s going on?”, “What were they talking about?” or “What did they say in the lecture?” I felt very much alone. Then I tried the ReSound LiNX2-9. Wow! I can hear birds again. I can understand speech again. I’m not afraid to mingle with people again, go to lectures, movies and other events. I am back in the world of sound. And now I can control the hearing aids from my iPhone. This is great! I love them!
The LiNX Square 9 is the best hearing aids I've ever purchased by far. I have been able to hear sounds that I didn't hear in the last 40 years. The technology with these aids is just incredible. If you have a smart phone, you will be shocked at how coupling the two together can enhance your ability to hear the TV, hear people on the phone, and in noisy environments. I play music at retirement homes and they have told me in the past that I was playing loud. Well, after receiving these aids, I would have to agree with them now because I am playing at a more normal level of sound now. Buy these hearing aids and the TV Streamer at the same time and as long as you have a smart phone, you will improve your hearing capabilities dramatically in all types of environments. Lastly, the smart phone will allow you to make adjustments to the hearing aids to further fit your needs. 5 stars plus!
These are my first hearing aids and I did a great deal of research before choosing them. Just put these on and I can't believe all the sound I have been missing. First - they are extremely comfortable. After about 3 minutes I completely forgot I had them on. Connection through my iPhone was seamless and instantaneous. Controls are straight forward and very easy to understand... but on the advise of my audiologist I will wait to do any adjusting. We went to a very loud restaurant for lunch about an hour after putting them on. The devices adjusted to the interior sound and I could hear my wife perfectly across the table. That hasn't happened in decades!!! Looking forward to my next round of golf to try the Outdoors setting. I am very grateful for the design, comfort and technology of the ReSound Linx2 9.
I love my new Resounds, the sound quality is better than the Phonaks I had previously used. I love the ability to stream television, a remote mic, and control them from my iPhone. The downside is that the model 961 of the Linx2 hearing aids went thru batteries every 3 - 4 days as I do a lot of streaming with the Television or remote mic. The Linx2 962's have larger batteries and are supposed to last up to 7 days. My Phonak hearing aids lasted 5 - 7 days between batteries. I love having settings for restaurants which eliminates more background noise, it makes eating out fun again.
The negatives are: 1) The hearing aids sometime lose connection to the phone in the midst of a call, even with the phone right beside me. 2) When streaming, I need to unlock my phone, change from streaming to regular hearing before being able to clearly understand the person talking to me. You can stop streaming by pushing a button on the aid, however, when you go back, it does not go to the TV streaming application, it goes to another mode of hearing settings. This is likely a function of the iPhone application built by Resound and will be addressed in the future.
Just upgraded from a ReSound hearing aid that I've had for over 8 years, to the ReSound LiNX2 9 Hearing aid and it is amazing. Because it it has the receiver in the ear it delivers the sound directly instead of the previous version I had which sent the sound via the tube. It also has an Iphone App that allows me to personally make adjustments, giving me the control that allows me to easily tailor the device to the environment I am in. Also, because it is designed with the Iphone in mind it allows me to receive and hear calls using the Hearing Aid, when paired via Bluetooth with the phone. This is a very nice and convenient feature so I can talk hands free.
So far the sound of my LiNX2 9 hearing aids is great, I like the fact that I can make adjustments with my I-phone. I can control the Bass and the treble, volume and crowd noise. They work great when I receive a call and it rings in my hearing aids and that make it a lot easier to understand the caller. The fit is very good. So far I can't complain about anything. Thanks Resound and Thank You Zip Hearing. Great product at a good price.
I didn't realize just how bad my hearing was until I had the hearing test. My provider did a really good job of testing and diagnosing my problems. I definitely like the fact that I can use them for forty five days and if not satisfied I can return them for a full refund of all my money. That is a really big plus. They gave me all options as to what hearing aids would best help me. I also like the three year warranty I received with my purchase.
I hope that there will be no problems over the next 3 years and then I will probably take out the insurance on them. I would definitely recommend Zip Hearing and my provider for any hearing testing and purchasing hearing aids. So far I have no regrets.
Sound of the LiNX2 9 is great. Being able to increase sound is a big plus. These hearing aids are very comfortable and almost invisible. They also are a better fit with my glasses.
This is the first pair I have had and they are better than expected. I can hear sounds I have not heard in years. I heard my coat when I put it on. These LinX2 9 are small and comfortable to wear. I wish I had done this sooner. So far I have no negatives. They appear sturdy and easy to handle.
I've only been using my Resound Linx2 9 for a few weeks now, but I'm really impressed with how I don't even notice I'm wearing them. Sometimes my wife asks me if I have them in - they're that unnoticeable. The best part is how much better I can hear. I love how they automatically adjust to the environment. I hear little clicks when they are changing to adjust to the noise level.
The sound quality on these Linx2 9 hearing aids is great. They are extremely comfortable and durable. We found the local hearing aid representative to be very helpful
I tried the Linx 2 9 for about a month but did not like them at all:-
1 Speech unclear still miss parts of sentences
2 Tv films totally lousy sound hardly better than cheap government aids
3 streaming music - horrible tinny sound
4 Harsh unnatural metallic sound
5 Huge volume of background noises like paper rustling, running water etc which are very unpleasant.
I have returned these aids and will continue with my free government phonaks!!
Just finished a one week trial and now have bought my hearing aids. while I adjust to them, I won't be without them. I hear things, even the sound of my heels compressing as I walk, I don't recall. Amazing. And speaking on my iphone through them is wonderful. especially in long conference calls. They are not invisible but are mostly unnoticeable, but I am no longer shy about that in any event. Hearing is good. even a bad movie!
The price is great. The batteries can sometimes rotate in the ReSound LiNX 2 hearing aid when closing the battery case. This causes the battery case to split a little and I am worried that they may break.I really like how the can do blue tooth communication with my iPhone/iPad. It is a little tinny, but very convenient. Be aware that the blue tooth connection is best used in a quiet environment, since there is no noise reduction. I highly recommend getting the iPhone/ Linx2 combo. I can talk on the phone without having bulky headphones-- I will admit I look a little demented talking to myself. When driving in my Toyota Avalon, I get feedback noise. This is a consistent problem that is easily replicated. I feel this is something that ReSound should fix. Now that being said, I really like the hearing aids. They are a nice improvement over my previous 4-year old hearing aids.
These LiNX2 9 hearing aids are the best hearing aids I have ever worn! I have moderate to severe hearing loss in both of my ears and I have worn hearing aids for 20 years. The sound quality is very natural and they do an amazing job at focusing on important sounds and toning down loud ambient noise. We tested them outside next to a six lane busy road, and I could hear my audiologist very clearly while he struggled to understand me over the noise! The audiologist I was assigned to is also the most amazing passionate professional I have ever met, so I feel very fortunate. These are practically invisible on my ears too! I got them in black, they are so lightweight and small. I love them. I can hear so many little things I was missing before and everything sounds fuller, I can hear my own voice better, and others voices from far away clearly. I can eavesdrop on people now!! Before background noises and people talking around me sounded like gibberish and would try to tune them out but now Im catching words and understanding the location and cause of sounds better. It is soooo amazing! Don't even get me started on the bluetooth & app capability! I feel so lucky, and I feel the world is going to open for me now. I am going to recommend these hearing aids and also this amazing program to everyone. :)
The hearing aids are great. We are working with the ringing in one of them but pretty sure that has to do with the setting. Go back to doctor on Thursday and that will be addressed then. I am very pleased so far with the help and the quick response we need help. The people dealing with us have been very professional and wanting to make sure all our needs and questions are answer to our satisfaction. I would highly recommend Ziphearing to others. You don't find to many companies today that really want to help others while still keep their business afloat. Thanks for all you have done for me and helping improve my hearing.
Post it here and a ZipHearing staff member or manufacturer representative will get back to you ASAP!
This is the only way to buy hearing aids! Most any kind of model you might desire can be purchased through the ZipHearing network - and I saved a significant amount of money, about $1400 - and got a year's worth of batteries at no cost. Explore the site and then call.
I would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND ZipHearing.com. They saved me $1,300 and connected me with an excellent local company, plus gave me a year supply of hearing aid batteries. I am a completely satisfied customer. Highly recommended!
I contacted ZipHearing and received a great pair of hearing aids for way below the cost that the hearing center was asking. It's a great way to save a lot of money on state of the art products and I'm glad I found them before paying full price. Service is excellent as well.
