Hearing Aid Description & Features

In search of the most natural sounding hearing aid possible?

Widex Moment 440 should be at the top of your list.

For decades, consumers and hearing professionals alike have come to accept that even the best hearing aids will still sound like hearing aids.

That is to say, the sound quality of even the best hearing aids will still sound "processed", or sometimes artificial, or metallic.

The primary reason for this unnatural sound, is due to processing delay.

When sound in your environment hits the hearing aid microphones, it gets processed and then amplified, and you hear it a split second after you heard the original sound. This creates an unnatural sort of echo sound- with all hearing aids.

What Widex has done with Moment 440, is ensure that the Moment the sound happens, Moment hearing aids process it immediately, removing that unnatural sound.

Widex Moment has the fastest processing time of any hearing aid in the market, and that's leading to customer's reporting the most natural sound quality.

The Moment 440 pictured above is rechargeable and is powered by a lithium-ion battery, and this is the model most of our customers buy.

However, this aid is also available in a smaller style, powered by a size 10 battery which will need to be changed every 3-5 days, or a size 312 battery which will need to changed weekly.

All Moment hearing aids are suitable for wearers with mild to severe hearing loss, and are available in 13 color choices as shown below.

If you have questions about the Moment 440 that you don`t find answered on this page, or are looking for specs on this device, you might want to check out the downloadable documents (below), visit Widex`s website, or feel free to give us a call at 800-731-6794.

Frequently Asked Questions
A fully charged Moment device should provide enough power for a full days use, 16+ hrs including Bluetooth streaming. The lithium-ion battery will need to be replaced every 3-4 years.
Moment hearing aids are compatible with a wide variety of smartphones. See the compatibility list here: Note that your Moment hearing aids will only establish a direct Bluetooth connection and stream audio with Apple products.
Absolutely. WIDEX sound quality is a perfect match for in-ear hearing aids, and custom MOMENT hearing aids are fully compatible with the DEX family wireless accessories. Custom models are also compatible with the WIDEX TONELINK app, for volume control and other adjustments, but they are not compatible with the new MOMENT app. If you have always worn in-ear hearing aids before, and you are interested in WIDEX MOMENT, this would be a good time to consider trying a mini RIC style. Not only are they super comfortable and remarkably discrete, they also include features like Bluetooth connectivity that you may enjoy more than you anticipate. Unlike the custom models, mini RIC and RIC MOMENT hearing aids are compatible with the new WIDEX MOMENT app, REMOTE CARE for fine tuning from a distance, and SoundSense Learn (an artificial intelligence solution first available in WIDEX EVOKE) for personalized sound.
The Moment RIC 10 is Widex's smallest receiver-in-canal style hearing aid, which uses a size 10 battery. The Moment RIC 10 does not feature direct Bluetooth connectivity with smartphones, but instead requires use of the COM-DEX Bluetooth streaming accessory. The Moment RIC 312 D is another (more popular) version of this hearing aid, which uses disposable size 312 batteries, and does offer direct Bluetooth connectivity with Apple devices.
How good a hearing aid sounds is more important than its processing speed. Full stop. Then again, ultrafast processing is part of what it takes to make a hearing aid sound great.  You won’t experience “lip sync” issues or notice a delay from any of the leading hearing aids. They are all fast enough for this. The difference is that sound processing has to be ultrafast for a hearing aid to sound truly natural. Ultrafast processing is especially important with open-ear hearing aids that allow unaided sound to “compete” with that of the hearing aid. Speedy sound processing is also efficient, letting sophisticated hearing aids like MOMENT pack a lot of performance in a tiny package.
WIDEX EVOKE is a fantastic hearing that shares some of MOMENT’s automatic sound classifier technology, and the ability to use SoundSense Learn to personalize your hearing aid sound. There are lots of differences between EVOKE and MOMENT, but the two that stand out are ZeroDelay processing and a Bluetooth upgrade. ZeroDelay processing is designed to improve sound quality for listeners with mild or moderate hearing loss who wear open-fitting or vented hearing aids. Regarding Bluetooth, MOMENT introduces compatibility with Android ASHA, which will (soon) bring energy-efficient audio streaming and interoperability between hearing aids and Android-based mobile devices.
The best is the best, and MOMENT 440 is the best WIDEX hearing aid available, no matter who is wearing it. Anyone can benefit from upgrading to the best. Compared to MOMENT 330, the main reason to consider the 440 model is to gain a wider range of automatic sound classes. This lets the hearing aid adapt better to changing listening conditions and perform better in more challenging situations. MOMENT 440 includes 11 automatic sound classes, compared to 7 in MOMENT 330, four in MOMENT 220, and three in MOMENT 110. Exclusive to MOMENT 440 are the Social sound class, classical or contemporary music, and speech enhancement for the Transport and Urban classes. A critical feature to many WIDEX fans, is the renowned SMARTWIND Manager™. It is available only at the 440 performance level.
Rechargeable MOMENT hearing aids feature “wireless charging”, or what some companies call “contactless” or “inductive charging”. Wireless charging means that the hearing aid batteries are fully enclosed, with no metal contacts on the outside. This improves the reliability and appearance of the hearing aids. It also makes charging more effective and more convenient.
Most hearing aids have a plastic receiver. MOMENT has a metal receiver. We think this adds to the premium look and feel of the hearing aid, but it’s main purpose is to make the receiver even smaller than before.
SoundSense Learn uses artificial intelligence called machine learning to personalize MOMENT hearing aids. SoundSense Learn lets the hearing aids learn from individual user preferences, in real time, for a truly personalized listening experience. SoundSense Learn is available through the MOMENT app for iOS or Android, in MOMENT 330 and MOMENT 440 RIC hearing aids. Using it is quick and easy. SoundSense guides users through the personalization process in just a few minutes by giving the user different listening programs to compare. Users indicate which of the programs they prefer, and SoundSense adapts the programs in response. By using machine learning technology, SoundSense helps to quickly narrow the program setting down to what users prefer, from a practically infinite range of possibilities.
SoundSense Learn uses artificial intelligence to personalize MOMENT hearing aids. MOMENT hearing aids feature SoundSense Learn and an automatic sound classifier called Fluid Sound Analyzer. The classifier’s job is to recognize and react to different listening situations. Sound classifiers like Fluid Sound Analyzer are remarkably accurate, but they don’t know what you’re hearing. And they can’t predict what you want to hear. This is why even the smartest hearing aids need artificial intelligence like SoundSense Learn. With SoundSense Learn, MOMENT hearing aids can adapt to individual user preferences.
Exclusive to Moment 330 and 440, the Phone+ program lets you hold a phone up to one ear and hear the call in both ears. Phone+ transmits the phone signal wirelessly from one hearing aid to the other. With Phone+, you don’t have to turn on Bluetooth or pair the hearing aid to a mobile device. Just press a button on the hearing aid to activate Phone+, then hold the phone up to your hearing aid and enjoy the conversation. Phone+ can sometimes help, even if you would normally use the MOMENT app for direct streaming. The program works with classic landlines—some people still prefer them, you know—and any time you need to use a phone that doesn’t have the app or isn’t currently paired with your hearing aids. For instance, you could use Phone+ to take calls in stride, even when it involves a spur-of-the-moment handoff of someone else’s phone.
No. If you need a CROS transmitter, you'll have to get the older EVOKE model, from 2018.
The RIC 312 D and XP models include a telecoil.
Accessories & Smartphone Apps
Charger (Included)

This is Widex's only charger and is the one that comes with all rechargeable hearing aids. Fully charges your hearing aids in 4 hours, providing 16-20 hours of power. A quick charge of 30 minutes will provide 4 hours of power.

Moment App

Take control of your hearing aids. Adjust sound settings like volume, program, base & treble, and microphone directionality. Create your own listening programs for certain environments. Use the SoundSense Learn feature (powered by machine learning), to compare sound profiles and help your hearing aids get smarter over time.

TV-DEX: $299

Plug it into the back of your TV or soundbar and the audio will be streaned directly to your hearing aids. Others can keep the TV at their preferred volume level, while you set your own volume via the app or on the hearing aids themselves.

COM-DEX: $249

This is a Bluetooth streamer that allows you to stream audio from your phone to your hearing aids. If you have an iPhone, you don't need this, because iPhones directly stream to Widex hearing aids. If you have an Android or any other phone and you want to stream from your phone, you need this. Even if you have an iPhone, it still may make sense to get this, because it does allow for hands free phone calls. Wear it around your neck and the microphone picks up your voice for the person on the other end of the call to hear, so you don't have to hold you the phone to your mouth when speaking.

COM-DEX Remote MIC: $269

Used as an optional "add on" with the standard COM-DEX. Clip the COM-DEX Remote Mic to a companion's shirt and their voice will stream directly to the COM-DEX worn around your neck, and then to your hearing aids. Their voice will come through much stronger than all the competing noise in the environment.

RC-DEX: $149

You probably don't need this. Most people use the app to control their hearing aids, and if not the app, then the push button on the hearing aid itself. But if neither of those suit you, this remote is a simple way to control the volume and program.

ToneLink App

If your phone doesn't directly pair to EVOKE hearing aids, and you don't use a COM-DEX accessory, this is the app for you. This app allows you to adjust the volume, programs, mute the hearing aids, and change the focus direction of the microphones.

Overal Ratings: 4.22 out of 5

Based on 16 User Reviews

Pros: Good sound quality, true they have less echo as advertised. Good tinnitus features (Zen therapy).
Cons: Spotty connectivity to app, Bluetooth drops often. Middle of call, one aid will drop out. And if I stream a few hours a day, battery life impacted significantly, only lasting maybe 8 hrs.

Hello i have just recently purchased a set of the new widex hearing aids and i am overall very happy with them. The sound come through very natural, and the easy charge is a plus. The only thing i would say that needs to improve is the blue tooth to my iPhone, as the batteries get weaker the harder it is to hear through blue tooth.

Wow. Had no idea what I was missing out on. First time hearing aid wearer so nothing to compare them to, but holy smokes. Moment 440 Rechargeables are delivering for me. I hear nearly perfect, maybe too well, some things I don't even want to hear, like the fridge running. I'm absolutely blown away by this technology.

Widex recently pushed a firmware update through their app that breaks the hearing aids. Mine are now randomly rebooting multiple times a day, which means that for several seconds they totally stop working - usually right in the middle of a conversation. This has made them almost useless. They've been totally unresponsive and my audiologist says that there's no timetable for a fix. That was a waste of $5k.

I’m a seventy-three-year-old designer and public figure. I’ve traveled internationally since the 90s making public presentations for my industry. In the last couple of years I was mildly aware I was missing some conversation and for my work, had difficulty on stage hearing people in the audience during Q&A. Only after two of my closest co-workers told me a few months ago that I was missing a lot and often did I realize just how much more my hearing has deteriorated!

I tried a few simple fixes on my own with non-prescription hearing amplifiers, but they amplified everything and were very distracting. The quality was not as expected, within a few weeks the battery hinge broke in one even with careful handling. I knew pretty quickly that they were a waste of money.

I made an appointment for a professional hearing test to see just how bad my hearing loss is…which was shocking that it is 55%! I did a little research for the brands that are available and chose Widex rechargeable, over the ear model which completely disappears when in place which is perfect.

I like the fact I can Bluetooth my phone to the hearing aids if I chose to. I usually don’t but it’s great in noisy areas or even if I want to listen to a podcast on my phone without removing the hearings aids and inserting portable earbuds to listen.

I also love the extra-long charge life. The charging unit is small and easy to use as well as secure when I place the hearing aids in to charge overnight. Since I travel for business, the charger will fit easily in my purse to take with me. Best of all…no fumbling with expensive batteries that don’t seem to last that long and have stopped working unexpectedly making the change to new ones inconvenient at times.
If there is anything negative, it’s certainly low level.

The hearing aids are new and I’m rather petite so the little plastic thread that fits in the curve of the inside of my ear are taking time to bend and stay in place, but I was told ahead that might occur and find it’s getting better and expect before long it will have adjusted to the shape of my ear. It doesn’t affect the placement of the actual hearing aid in the ear canal itself so very minor.

I have adjusted to the little noise of sliding sunglasses and readers on and am mindful not to snag the earpiece on the hearing aids when removing glasses.

I would recommend this hearing aid to a friend for a variety of reasons. The quality of the device, the options for adjusting it easily on my phone for my surroundings and the ease of use and clarity. As I said, they virtually disappear when in place and I can hear well. I didn’t realize how much I was missing.
For anyone considering purchase of hearing aids, I recommend doing due diligence to learn what to expect, where to purchase and what the different hearing aid brands offer for their own personalized use. I’m very happy with my Widex brand hearing aids, I feel it’s the best choice I could have made.

I do like the sound quality of these Widex Moments and look forward to more fine tuning. Even though the receiver is larger than my old pair of Widex, they are comfortable. The bluetooth connection to my phone is a little weak and sound quality is sub-par to that of Widex Fusions that use an intermediate device.

Excellent, amazing sound quality from my Moment 440 rechargeables. I regret that I don't have an iPhone and so I can't stream to these hearing aids with my Android, but other than that I love them.

I tried ReSound LiNX for 1 month before giving these a try and I found these to be much better overall. Even though my audiologist didn't have much experience programming these as compared to ReSound, I felt these were a superior sound quality, so that is saying something.

So far so good. They have definitely improved my hearing of high pitch sounds and that is why I got them. I have not had them for a long enough time to give them a 5 star rating but they have worked as described by the doctor. It does take a while to get use to hearing aids since this is my first set.

My new Widex hearing aids are excellent. I like the sound quality, streaming capabilities, and compact fit behind my ears. Additionally, when my Widex hearing aids developed an issue, my local provider contacted them while I was in my appointment. Two Widex representatives were on the phone line with my provider. When they could not solve the software issue, I was provided a loaner pair of hearing aids. Widex immediately shipped replacement hearing aids overnight. Overall, these are great hearing aids for me. I appreciate ZipHearing helping me find the best solution and very pleased with Widex.

I have been a Widex user for several years and had the Evolve model and upgraded to Moment 440 because the widex Evolve charger failed while still under the factory warranty. Widex upgraded me to Moment and no extra charge. The technology has improved and the clarity is amazing.
I am in sales and on the phone consistently. I can always hear clearly without any issues with Bluetooth. For anyone debating, I can attest, it’s life altering.

The Widex hearing aid with Bluetooth connectivity and the Moment App for personal control is a game changer for me. I work with clients by telephone. My hearing was getting so bad I couldn't hear on the phone and that I thought I was going to be forced into retirement. Bluetooth connecting my cell phone to my hearing aids saved my career. I can actually hear better on the telephone now than I can in person.
