Signia Silk Charge&Go IX reviews

Customers say

These hearing aids are praised for their discreet, in-ear design and comfortable all-day wear. A few customers find them particularly effective for single-sided deafness. Users appreciate the convenience of rechargeable batteries although some note occasional charging issues. The lack of Bluetooth connectivity is a minor drawback for some, but users appreciate being able to adjust settings via the mobile app. Some users reported a slight tinny sound in certain environments, but overall, the sound quality and functionality are well-regarded.

The sound experience is very natural

Review by: Paul from AZ
Model: Signia Silk Charge&Go IX 7 CIC
Bought: Jan 2024

Hello my name is Paul and this is my review of some hearing aids I recently purchased on the ZipHearing website. They’re called Signia Silk, and let me tell you exactly the model, Signia Silk Charge&Go 7ix with CROS. What this means is I have single sided deafness, I’m completely deaf in my right ear, and uh I have reasonably good hearing in my left ear but I do have some hearing loss. So uh these are completely in ear hearing aids from the front you can see that they’re not really very visible, from the side you can see in my ear that you can see them and this is what one of them looks like. They’re very comfortable, easy to put in and out, and the amazing thing is that with my single sided deafness, I was never able to hear anything on the right side and now I can, so the way these work is it wirelessly transmits sound from this side into the hearing aid over here which then plays in my ear, so, I can now hold the phone up to my right ear and have a conversation which I could never do before, I can hear people that are sitting on my right side talking to me at dinner or something, much better than I ever could before, I’m really really happy with these hearing aids and the ZipHearing process was great, the people that I worked with were very responsive, very knowledgeable, answered questions quickly, I ordered the hearing aids, they were sent to a local audiologist and made an appointment within a few days, showed up, within 45 minutes they were fitted, adjusted for my hearing situation. I walked out and everything was great. And maybe a few weeks after that I went back for a follow up appointment and we tweaked some settings a little bit but I really couldn’t be happier with the way these hearing aids work, they come with a small charger, it’s about this big that USB charger, so at the end of the day I take them out, put them in the charger, they charge overnight then they’re ready to go the next day, they I dunno, I’ve never worn them long enough where the battery has gone out, the charge seems to last, must last at least 18 hours or something. Again I just I’m really happy with these hearing aids, I’m happy with the way the ZipHearing process worked, I don’t have any particular complaints about anything I’ve just after two visits to the audiologist been very happy with the product, with the ZipHearing experience with the audiologist who fitted me, everythings just been great. So, hopefully this is helpful and again I’ll just repeat it it’s the Signia Silk Charge&Go 7ix with Silk and I got the CROS because I have single sided deafness, but they have just normal versions so you can buy one or two just normal hearing aids if you don’t have single sided deafness situation. I guess I should say the sound experience is very natural, it’s not artificial or tinny or anything, I just hear much better than I used to, it sounds very natural.

Checks a lot of boxes for me

Review by: Bj from WA
Model: Signia Silk Charge&Go IX 7 CIC
Bought: Dec 2023

Hi, my name is BJ. Like many people my age, I was in complete denial about my hearing loss. However, in a group setting out to dinner with friends, lunch after golf, I found myself leaning farther and farther into the center of the table. And generally my most common question was, excuse me, what was that? Or I'm sorry, I didn't catch that. My wife bought tickets to the Book of Mormon. We were both really excited to see the show, but the lively theater atmosphere and the quick, witty dialogue left me only hearing half of the Book of Mormon. That was it. I went in for a hearing test and the audiologist told me I had moderate hearing loss. She showed me a variety of hearing aids and explained some different brands to me and I went home to do my homework. I got online and I found ziphearing.com and I knew I wanted a rechargeable hearing aid that would work with my active lifestyle hiking, golfing, boating, kayaking, hats on, hats off, Stocking caps, glasses on, Sunglasses off, and I came across the insignia silk charge. And they begin to check a lot of the boxes for me. What do I like about them? Number one, they're completely rechargeable and they work in a small box slide in at night. The box holds about three days of hearing aid charges. They're very small, discreet. They fit completely in my ear canal. And they have been life changing. I worked with a local hearing provider that Jeff at Zipp Hearing works with, and she did the setup for me, which was easy and seamless. And I couldn't recommend the zip hearing or the Signia silk charge more. Like I said, it's been life changing for me. So, that's my review on the Signia silk charge and zip hearing.

My first hearing aids, so far so good

Review by: Tim from IN
Model: Signia Silk Charge&Go IX 7 CIC
Bought: Jul 2024

Hi, my name is Tim and I'm a first time hearing aid user. I just got mine a few months ago. Typical hearing loss because of loud music, noises, no protection, that type of thing. I went with the Signia silk charge and go, for my first set of hearing aids. Mostly because probably my own vanity. And between that, I really didn't want to have to deal with anything behind my ears because I do wear glasses and I didn't want them to be hitting on that also. So I did go with the silk charge and go. And because they're very small, fit right inside the ear canal. I've been really happy with the size and how they work. They're basically invisible when you put them in. I can stick them in there and with the black background there, you don't even really notice that there's anything in there. They come with the little charging case that they fit right in. The case will hold about three charges, so you don't have to have it hooked up all the time. They just pop right in there like that. Charge doesn't take very long. You can get a quick charge. I think it said in, like 20 minutes or whatever the last few, few, few hours, or I'll just stick them on there when I go to bed and do it like that. When I first started, they came with these different sleeves here, and I noticed I seem they seem kind of stuffy to me. I seem like I was more stuffed or whatever. So I experimented with them a little bit and we came up with, like I said, this little I don't know if you can see that open, more open dome type thing. That's helped quite a bit. I don't have quite as much stuffiness as I did. I'll be honest with you. I'm still getting used to them. It takes some getting used to because I haven't worn them before, but so far, so good. I can tell the difference in my hearing, though, that's a definite. I went with zip hearing, everything was just smooth as could be. The prices were excellent. They hooked me up with an audiologist. They were great. No problems there. And like I said, everything's going really good so far. This is my first set, so I've still got that learning curve. I guess it is a little different. A little hard to get used to, but I'm working on it. But as far as the actual hearing aids and the service that I've gotten from zip hearing, no problems at all, first class all the way. So that's my review, and if there was anything else, I'll add a second one. Thank you very much.

Invisible & incredible

These Signia Silk Charge&Go hearing aids are miraculous: they are hidden in your ear and basically invisible, but rechargeable, adjustable via the app on your mobile phone and they deliver great quality sound-even in noisy places like restaurants. And no fitting it’s required because they come with multiple size rubber ear pieces, so they’re good to go on your first audiologist visit. Dazzling!

Signia Silk 7ix are great!

I've had single sided deafness for 20 years. I've been waiting for a in-ear CROS hearing aid. I've had the Signia Silk 7 Charge&go IX now for 2 weeks and I love them. I've worn them in difficult situations like a rock concert and a loud restaurant, and I can hear well even if someone is talking on my "bad" hearing side. They're very comfortable and the batteries last all day.

Pleasantly Surprised with my Signia Silk 7IX

I'm really impressed with my Signia Silk Charge and Go 7IX. WIth the right provider, I now find them comfortable to wear all day and the difference in my hearing acuity before and after, is amazing. The unfortunate trade off, between supper small CIC's and no blue tooth (that's why I gave them a 4.5), for me, is acceptable. I've just gone to a quality pair of ear muff style head phones to give me blue tooth connectivity when I need it like in the gym or on a plane. The aids stay seated in my ear without issues with activity and pair well to the Signia app for subtle volume and program adjustments. So that aspect is nice. Charge time seems very fast and I have yet to experience them needing to go back on the charger during use. A 12 hour plus day of use has not been an issue. And, if you are a wax former like me, a simple wipe of the aid with an alcohol wipe in the morning before I put them in and I'm good to go. I will say that my provider has made a huge difference in my rating level. This is my second provider and she has been a night and day factor in my successful experience. To have someone who truly knows these aids and is willing to invest the time and work toward my goals has changed my impression from maybe a 2.5 to a 4.5+. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

A Major Improvement

The Signia Silk hearing aids have allowed me to hear sound in my right ear for the first time in 20 years. A very major plus. The sound is a little tinny at times but overall a big plus. After about two weeks the charger was very sensitive/unreliable about charging the right-side aid, but the local provider gave me a replacement.

Comfortable and very easy to take care of

Still getting used to my Signia Silks. VERY comfortable and very easy to take care of. LOVE that they're rechargeable. LOVE that the app lets you adjust volume and "sharpness" on my phone. I'm looking forward to my second appointment because I think they may have to be nudged up to Medium from Soft. I hear better and difficulty hearing has receded somewhat, but I'm looking forward to the possibility of a little adjustment.

First hearing aids

I'm still getting use to these as I've never had hearing aids before but so far so good. I wanted something as small as possible and rechargeable and these fit the bill. If I had something to compare it with I might have added the last star. The Tinnitus feature on the app is also a plus for me.

Common questions about Signia Silk Charge&Go IX hearing aids

Bluetooth / ConnectivityRechargeabilityControls/AppsMiscellaneous

Choose questions category:

Is this hearing aid Bluetooth compatible?
No, this hearing aid is simply too small to house the components required for Bluetooth connectivity.
Can I stream audio from the TV?
No, this hearing aid is not compatible with Signia's StreamLine TV accessory.
How many hours a day do the batteries last?
Up to 26 hours.
What is the lifespan of the rechargeable batteries?
Signia expects the Silk battery to last 1100 charging cycles, or around 3 years. At that point, a considerable amount of the power cell's capacity will be lost, and a new battery should be inserted, which is something Signia will do. Your hearing provider will ship the devices back to Signia for this service, and there will usually be a cost, ranging from $75-$200/battery.
How will I know when my battery needs to be charged?
You will hear an alert signal to indicate the battery is running low. The signal will be repeated every 20 minutes. Depending on the usage of your hearing aids, you have approximately 1.5 hours to charge your hearing aids before they stop working.
How long does it take to get a full charge?
If plugged into an outlet a full charge takes about 4 hours. If using a Qi wireless charging pad, it will take 6 hours. A 30 minute quick charge will get you up to 7 hours of power.
What if I'm on-the-go and my battery dies?
The charger has a built-in battery that stores 4 full charges, so even without electricity, you can charge your hearing aids by pulling power from the charger battery. If you're going to be "off the grid" for longer than that, Signia recommends buying the Tripp Lite model UPB-02K6-1U power pack, which is a power bank that you can plug your charger into when you need to charge your hearing aids and don't have access to electricity.
Does the charger include a dehumidifier?
It does not. If you live in a humid environment or sweat a lot, we'd recommend purchasing a hearing aid dehumidifier on Amazon, as Signia doesn't have one for this model.
How many charges does the portable charging case hold?
A fully charged case can provide up to four full charges for a pair of Silk devices.
How can I control this hearing aid, and which settings can I control?
The Signia app will give you the most flexibility, allowing you to change volume, program, and base and treble. Or, you can use the miniPocket handheld remote which will let you change the volume and program.
How do I turn this hearing aid on and off?
To turn the hearing aid on, simply take the hearing aid out of the charger, it will auto-start. To turn the hearing aid off, place it in the charger.
Is there any reason not to buy Silk?
Silk is ideal for mild to moderate hearing loss. If your loss is beyond that, Silk is not going to be powerful enough for you, and you shouldn't buy it.
Is this hearing aid CROS compatible?
Yes, Silk Charge&Go IX can be used with the Silk CROS device (shown above).
Can I get this hearing aid with a telecoil?
No, it's not an option.

KEY FEATURES

1. Microphone

The image of Microphone hearing aids feature

The microphone picks up the sound from the environment and sends it into the hearing aid for processing. You’ll mostly want to leave the microphone alone, but periodically check it to ensure it’s not being plugged up by hair care products or oils.

2. Pull string

The image of Pull string hearing aids feature

This handy string makes it easier to insert and remove the hearing aid. Don’t worry- in most cases this string tucks away neatly inside the ear canal, but if it doesn’t talk to your hearing care provider about shortening or removing the pull string.

3. Rechargeable battery

The image of Rechargeable battery hearing aids feature

Silk Charge&Go IX hearing aids are powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, expected to last up to 26 hours/day. The battery takes about 4 hours to fully charge, and a 30 minute quick charge will get you about 7 hours of power. These batteries will last about 3 years, and the first battery replacement is covered under your 3 year hearing aid warranty.

4. Sleeve

The image of Sleeve hearing aids feature

The sleeve slips over and encloses/protects the receiver/speaker. Sleeves are made with medical-grade silicone. They come in different shapes and sizes—your hearing care professional will help you pick the right size and style. Signia also has the option of using what they call 'domes' instead of sleeves, which are essentially just a smaller, dome-shaped piece. Do a google search for 'Signia domes' to see pictures of these. Selecting the appropriate dome or sleeve will change the sound performance of your hearing aids, so if you’re not achieving satisfying results with your hearing aids, your hearing provider will often consider trying a different style. As of January 2024, Signia also offers optional custom molds ($50 each through ZipHearing) that can be added to these hearing aids as well, which for some people will help them stay in the ear better, and make the hearing aids more powerful (louder).

5. Wax filter

The image of Wax filter hearing aids feature

When it comes to maintaining your hearing aids, this is where you’ll spend most of your time. The wax filter (mostly) prevents wax and oils from getting into the receiver/speaker. You can't see it in this image, but it's hidden underneath the black/transparent sleeve, which would be taken off to access the filter. Your hearing provider may supply you with wax guards enabling you to periodically change these on your own. Some people never have to change these wax filters, others have to change them weekly. Your purchase includes 1 pack of wax filters, and you can purchase additional wax filters directly from your ZipHearing provider, or through a number of sites online such as Amazon.
