Hi my name’s Rich, I’m doing a review of my Phonak Titanium 70 hearing aid, it’s an in-the-canal hearing aid that I got from ZipHearing. This is the hearing aid, it’s that small, really like my fingernail, small, uses a size 10 battery, it fits in the ear well, stays in, a little bit of a history that I have on hearing aids is that about four years ago I had checked into hearing aids and looked at the completely in the canal hearing aid from an audiologist’s office, it did not work for me, they would not stay in my ears when I would chew they would slide out, work their way out. So being vain and not wanting to have to wear anything that would be seen I decided to wait on getting hearing aids. In early winter of 2022 which would be about 4 months ago, I started looking at hearing aids at Costco, and saw ZipHearing on Google. I went to Costco, everything was fine there, they offered the in the ear, over the ear, and full shell in-the-ear, and that would’ve been okay, the in the ear, except they were not the latest generation or the latest models, they were like last year’s models, so I decided to deal with ZipHearing and the audiologist that they referred me to. They are the Titanium 70 from Phonak, at first we had tried the Signia Silk and those did not stay in as they just slide in the ear, but they worked their way out when I would chew, so I went back to the audiologist and he fitted me for a Phonak in the ear canal hearing aid that would be molded to fit me specifically. They were a little bit cheaper so ZipHearing had the price difference in my account credited to my credit card the very next day, so they’re real good about that, their customer service is real good. I went and got the hearing aid, got it put in, got fitted, they came back, it just slips in, that quick, just like that. The only I problem I had with the Phonaks were with the molded, is the one on the left side, which would be this side, still did not fit properly, it was still coming out a little bit and I was not comfortable with how it fit so we had another mold made, that took a couple weeks to get that hearing aid back, and now I have that. And it fits well, stays in, they don’t come out, they work well, the adjustments are easy, batteries last me 4-5 days, I really like you really can’t see them, so it takes care of the vanity issue, plus I can hear much better with the surrounds, I don’t feel like I have my head plugged, or my ears plugged in, they’re very comfortable. ZipHearing has been very good to work with, I would recommend them highly, I recommend these Phonaks for someone who wants the in-the-ear, or in-the-canal I guess is what it would be called, that are custom-fitted, custom-molded, they work perfectly. Does this hearing aid allow for hands-free phone calls?

The P 312 model offers hands-free phone calls. The other models don't have Bluetooth and thus do not offer this feature.

Can this hearing aid be paired directly to my Bluetooth TV?

The P 312 model can, though Phonak doesn't recommend it, as it can cause excessive battery drain. Phonak recommends purchasing the TV Connector accessory for this instead.

Is this hearing aid Bluetooth compatible?

Yes. The P 312 model is Bluetooth compatible and offers direct audio streaming from almost all phones. The Virto P 10, Titanium, and Virto P 312 NW models are not Bluetooth compatible.

Is this hearing aid Roger compatible?

Yes- the P 312 model can pair directly to Roger devices.

How will I know when it's time to change the battery?

The hearing aids will make two long beep sounds. Your hearing care provider can show you a demo of these sounds in Phonak's fitting software, so you know what to expect. Typically the aids will make these notification sounds every 15-30 minutes, until the aid quits working entirely.

What size battery do they take?

The battery size is indicated in the model name, for example the Virto M 312 takes a size 312 battery.

Are the batteries hard to change?

On the P 10 and Titanium models- yes. You'll need good dexterity to change them. The models which use a size 312 battery are much easier and most people can manage just fine.

How long do the batteries last?

Batteries for the P 10 and Titanium models will last 2-5 days. P 312, about 5 days, depending on how much Bluetooth streaming you do. P 312 NW, 5-7 days.

How can I control this hearing aid, and which settings can I control?

Control options will vary depending on the model. You can control the volume and program of the Wireless Virto P 312 with the onboard push button, optional rotary volume control wheel, the RemoteControl, or the myPhonak app. The myPhonak app will also allow you to adjust the frequencies of the hearing aids. All other models can be controlled by an optional push button, which will let you adjust either the volume or program. Often, the Titanium IIC model will be so small that there's no room for a push button, in which case you'd have to use Phonak's MiniControl accessory, which will allow you to change either the volume or program.

How do I turn this hearing aid on and off?

To turn the hearing aid on, simply close the battery door. Opening the battery door will turn the hearing aid off.

Does the app have a “Find My Hearing Aid” feature?

Phonak hearing aids and Phonak apps do not have a "Find My Hearing Aid" feature.

Is this hearing aid CROS compatible?

No. The only in-the-ear models from Phonak that are CROS compatible are the older (Virto B) models from 2017.

Can I get this hearing aid with a telecoil?

The P 10 & P 312 NW models include a telecoil, and it's optional on the Titanium models. A telecoil is not an option on the P 312 model.

Compatible with the Virto P 312 model. Use this app to adjust settings like volume, programs, frequencies, and noise cancellation. Easily make changes to your hearing aid(s) to suit your personal preferences for various listening situations. You can easily adjust the volume and various hearing aid features (e.g., noise reduction and microphone directionality) or select pre-defined programs according to the different listening situation you are in. Additionally, you can make quick adjustments to the pitch of the sound in the equalizer by using the presets (default, comfort, clarity, softer, etc.) or more personalized adjustments using the sliders (bass, middle, treble). In some cases, you can even connect with your hearing provider for remote adjustments to your hearing aids.

Compatible with the Virto P 312 model. Plug it into the back of your TV or soundbar and the audio will be streamed directly to your hearing aids. Others can keep the TV at their preferred volume level, while you set your own volume via the app, on the hearing aids themselves, or via the + or - buttons on the TV connector.

Compatible with the Virto P 312 model. You probably don't need this. Most people use the app to control their hearing aids, and if not the app, then the push button on the hearing aid itself. But if neither of those suit you, this remote is a simple way to control the volume and program.

Roger On iN, $1649

Compatible with the Virto P 312 model. Roger On has 3 modes- Pointing mode, Presenter mode, and Table Mic mode. In Pointing mode, simply point it towards the subject you want to hear and it'll pick up their voice, just like a microphone would. In Presenter mode (AKA lapel mode), it'll focus almost entirely on the wearer's voice and stream that to your hearing aids. In Table Mic mode is where this accessory shines, and what gives it the advantage over Roger Pen iN. When Roger On is laid flat on a surface (like a table), it automatically figures out it's orientation and switches into an automatic directionality mode. In this mode, it can automatically shift the focus of the microphones towards the direction of speech. Roger On can also wirelessly stream audio from the TV to your hearing aids, so if you buy it, you don't need to buy the TV Connector.

Roger Select iN, $1349

Compatible with the Virto P312 model. Ideal for stationary situations where background noise is present, like a table at a restaurant. Set the Select iN in the middle of the table, and it automatically selects the person who is talking and seamlessly switches from one talker to another, streaming the sound directly to your hearing aids. What's nice about the Roger Select (and the reason it's better for smaller group conversations where it can be placed within arms reach), is you can hit a button on the device to change the direction the microphone is facing – you can “select” it – and override the automatic selection, allowing you to focus on the speaker most important to you. Select iN can also be worn by someone else you want to hear, on their chest using a clip or lanyard. This is known as “lapel mode.” When in lapel mode, Select iN knows its orientation and automatically ensures the microphone points upward to pick up the voice of the speaker. The lapel mode is good for a presenter at a meeting, a fitness class, and a passenger or driver in a car. Roger Select iN can also wirelessly stream audio from the TV to your hearing aids, so if you buy a Select iN, you don't need to buy the TV Connector.

Roger Table Mic II iN, $1888

Compatible with the Virto P312 model. Of all the Roger accessories, Table Mic II iN has the least versatile functionality- it's really only designed for stationary use. Ideal for working adults who participate in various meetings with multiple (4+) people involved. When placed in the middle of a table, it's able to automatically pick up the voice of the person who is talking and stream it directly to your hearing aids. Table Mic II iN automatically switches between speakers, and unlike Select, you can't manually override the choices Table Mic II iN makes. Multiple Roger Table microphones can be connected to create a network and with a range of more than 60 feet it ensures you're able to fully understand everyone at work.

Attach this microphone to a companion's shirt and their voice will stream directly to your hearing aids. Their voice will come through much stronger than all the competing noise in the environment.
