Signia Styletto IX

The ultra-slim and sophisticated Signia Styletto IX

Released by Signia on March 4, 2024, Styletto IX is Signia’s newest “fashion-forward hearing aid” built on the all new IX platform.

Styletto IX is most well-known for its unique pin-shaped lithium-ion battery, allowing the hearing aid to take on a sleeker, slimmer design than everything else on the market.

It's just...sexy? Aptly named, Styletto IX looks like something you'd expect to see in an Apple store as opposed to your neighborhood hearing aid center.

Common questions about Signia Styletto IX hearing aids

Bluetooth / ConnectivityRechargeabilityControls/AppsMiscellaneous

Choose questions category:

Can this hearing aid be paired directly to my Bluetooth TV?
No. Streaming audio from the TV requires the StreamLine TV accessory.
Is this hearing aid Bluetooth compatible?

Styletto IX hearing aids are Bluetooth compatible and are designated as MFi (Made for iPhone). This means Styletto IX can directly stream phone calls, music, and more, from iPhones and iPads. These hearing aids also support direct streaming to any Android devices that is ASHA-supported ,and you an see a list of those devices on Signia's websiteStyletto IX hearing aids are also Auracast-ready. Auracast is a technology that allows audio broadcasting from a source device to multiple receiver devices over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). This technology can enable public venues, like airports or theaters, to broadcast audio directly to compatible hearing aids, earbuds, or headphones. At the current time Auracast is a new technology and there are few broadcasting devices being using, but once more devices support Auracast broadcasting, these Styletto IX hearing aids will be able to receive their signals.

Does this hearing aid allow for hands-free phone calls?
Hands-free calling is available for iPhone users using iOS version 15.1 or later. When wearing the hearing aids, you can start and stop phone calls by double-tapping your ear, and you can then use Styletto IX hearing aids as a hands-free Bluetooth headset. Hands-free calling will not work with Android phones, it will require purchasing Signia's Streamline MIC accessory.
How many hours a day do the batteries last?
With no streaming, a full charge will get you 19 hours of power. With streaming, 16 hrs.
What is the lifespan of the rechargeable batteries?
Signia expects the battery to last 3-4 years, at which point the hearing aid will need to be sent to them to get a new battery. We expect most providers will chage $150-$250 per device for this service.
How will I know when my battery needs to be charged?
About 20 minutes to an hour before your battery quits, the hearing aid will play a low battery notification of steady beeps or a melodic tune, letting you know it's time to charge the hearing aid. Your hearing provider can demonstrate this sound for you in the fitting software so you know what to expect.
What if I'm on-the-go and my battery dies?
The charger has a built-in battery that stores 4 full charges, so even without electricity, you can charge your hearing aids by pulling power from the charger battery. If you're going to be "off the grid" for longer than that, Signia recommends buying the Tripp Lite model UPB-02K6-1U power pack, which is a power bank that you can plug your charger into when you need to charge your hearing aids and don't have access to electricity.
How long does it take to get a full charge?
A full charge takes about 4 hrs and will provide 16-19 hrs of power. A 30 minute charge will get you 5.5 hours of power .
Does the charger include a dehumidifier?
It does not. If you live in a humid environment or are concerned about moisture, you may want to buy the Dry and Clean Charger Styletto IX which offers UVC cleaning and drying technology to keep the hearing aids in peak condition.
Can I charge the case on a charging pad?
Yes. The Styletto charger incorporates Qi wireless charging technology. You can use any wireless charging pad, simply lay the case directly on the pad with the charging indicator light facing up.
How can I control this hearing aid, and which settings can I control?
Using the miniPocket remote, you can control the volume and program. Using the Signia app, you can control volume, program, base and treble, and on 5 and 7 models, you can control the directionality of the microphones, helping to reduce background noise in a challenging listening environment. If you have an iPhone 11 or newer, you can also answer phone calls by tapping on the hearing aid.
How do I turn this hearing aid on and off?
There is no on/off switch for these hearing aids. They automtically turn on when you take them out of the case, and turn off when you put them back in. If you want to turn them off without charging them, just press and hold the charger button for 5 seconds to turn off the charger .
Does the app have a “Find My Hearing Aid” feature?
It does not.
Is this hearing aid CROS compatible?
Yes, Styletto IX is CROS compatible, the CROS device is called Styletto RIC CROS IX.
Can I get this hearing aid with a telecoil?
No, it's not available with this model.
Can I still use the charger if I get custom earmolds?
Yes, but it's not ideal. If there are molds on your hearing aids, they'll have to hang outside of the charger, and the lid won't close. The hearing aids will charge this way, but it's not ideal, and a bit awkward. If you use ear molds, or receiver wires in the length of #4, we recommend getting the Dry and Clean Styletto IX charger, as the hearing aids will fit more comfortably in that charger.

StreamLine MIC has two features. First, it's most commonly used as a Bluetooth streamer that allows you to stream audio from your phone to your hearing aids. If you have an Android phone or any non-Apple smartphone, you'll need this device if you wish to stream audio from your phone to your hearing aids. If you have an iPhone, you won't need this device, because Signia hearing aids are directly compatible with iPhones. Even if you have an iPhone, it still may make sense to get this, because it does allow for hands free phone calls. Wear it around your neck and the microphone picks up your voice for the person on the other end of the call to hear, so you don't have to hold you the phone to your mouth when speaking. The second feature of StreamLine MIC is its ability to work as a remote microphone. If you have a hard time hearing in noise this accessory is a lifesaver. Attach the StreamLine MIC to a companion's shirt and their voice will stream directly to your hearing aids. Their voice will come through much stronger than all the competing noise in the environment.

You probably don't need this. Most people use the app to control their hearing aids, but if that doesn't suit you, this remote is a simple way to control the volume and program.

KEY FEATURES

1. Dome

The image of Dome hearing aids feature

The dome slips over and encloses/protects the receiver/speaker. Domes are made with medical-grade silicone. They come in different shapes and sizes—your hearing care professional will help you pick the right size and style. Signia also has the option of using what they call “Sleeves” instead of domes, which are essentially just a longer, conical shaped dome, do a google search for “Signia sleeves” to see pictures of these. Selecting the appropriate dome or sleeve will change the sound performance of your hearing aids, so if you’re not achieving satisfying results with your hearing aids, your hearing provider will often consider trying a different dome style. In some cases, such as for wearers with severe or profound hearing loss, an earmold will be used instead of a dome.

2. Microphone

The image of Microphone hearing aids feature

The microphone picks up the sound from the environment and sends it into the hearing aid for processing. You’ll mostly want to leave the microphone alone, but periodically check it to ensure it’s not being plugged up by hair care products or oils.

3. Receiver

The image of Receiver hearing aids feature

The receiver AKA speaker delivers the sound into the ear. Signia Styletto receivers are available in 3 different strengths, standard (S), moderate (M), power (P). Your ZipHearing provider will help you determine the appropriate gain (strength/power) receiver based on the results of your hearing test. Expect to have to replace your receivers every year or so, and this is something that usually takes just a few minutes with your local ZipHearing provider.

4. Receiver wire

The image of Receiver wire hearing aids feature

This thin, plastic-coated wire transmits power and signals to the receiver/speaker, which is worn inside the ear. Signia receivers are available in 5 different lengths: 0,1,2,3 & 4. Your ZipHearing provider will help you determine the appropriate length of receiver wire, by measuring your ear. In cases when your ZipHearing provider is unsure of the exact receiver length that will work best for you, we’re happy to send out a few different receiver lengths for you to try.

5. Rechargeable battery

The image of Rechargeable battery hearing aids feature

Signia developed Styletto with a narrow, pin-shaped battery, allowing the hearing aid to take on a sleek and slim design, while still offering between 16-19 hours/day of battery. A full charge takes about 4 hrs and will provide 16-19 hrs of power. A 30 minute charge will get you 5.5 hours of power. The standard charger that comes with Styletto hearing aids also features a built-in lithium-ion battery which can store 4 full charges, so in the event you don't have access to electricity, you can still charge your hearing aids by pulling the reserve battery from the case. 6. Water resistant

The image of Water resistant hearing aids feature

Styletto hearing aids have an IP68 rating, meaning they’re protected from dust getting inside and can withstand exposure to water, though caution around water is highly recommended.

7. Wax filter

The image of Wax filter hearing aids feature

When it comes to maintaining your hearing aids, this is where you’ll spend most of your time. The wax filter (mostly) prevents wax and oils from getting into the receiver/speaker. Your hearing provider may supply you with Signia Nanocare 3.0 wax guards enabling you to periodically change these on your own. Some people never have to change these wax filters, others have to change them weekly. Your purchase includes 1 pack of wax filters, and you can purchase additional wax filters directly from your ZipHearing provider, or through a number of sites online such as Amazon.
