Widex Moment reviews

Summary

Customers say

The Moment hearing aids are praised for their natural and exceptional sound quality, restoring clarity to high-pitched sounds, TV, and music. Bluetooth connectivity enhances functionality by allowing users to stream audio, answer calls, and control settings via the Moment app, which also provides customization for tone and frequency adjustments. Users appreciate the comfort of the secure rubber domes, extended battery life, and discreet design. However, some experience issues with Bluetooth dropouts during phone calls, less-than-ideal TV sound, occasional feedback, and challenges with background noise in crowded environments. Additionally, a few users found the size uncomfortable, especially when wearing glasses, and noted that the user manual lacked comprehensive instructions.

Love them

I bought the Widex Moment 440 hearing aids and love them. The app has so many features that allow me to customize my hearing aids to maximize the sound quality. However the universal setting auto adjusts so well that I rarely need to.

New Widex SmartRic 440 hearing aids

I’ve had my new Widex SmartRic 440 hearing aids for about one month. I love them. Hearing quality is great. Ease of use is great. Sound quality using blue tooth through my IPhone is great. I would highly recommend these hearing aids. This is my second pair of Widex.

Excited about my New Widex SmartRIC hearing aids

After testing several different hearing aids over a period of two months, I decided the best option for me as a first time user of hearing aids was the Widex SmartRIC 440. I love how the app on my iPhone allows me flexibility to adjust to different environments. The sound quality was the very best of all the different models that I personally tested. I was having problems in meetings hearing and understanding a speaker that was at the far end of the table, that is no longer a problem. I have struggled with tinnitus for many years and the masking option has proven to be very helpful. I am very pleased with the Widex 440, they have exceeded my expectations.

Really help me hear in groups

Hi, I'm Gail, I'm 81 years old and I live in Northern California. My first experience with hearing aids was about six years ago when I bought my first pair of Resounds. I discovered I was having hearing loss. When I couldn't hear, my granddaughter couldn't understand her little tiny voice. And also, I was taking bridge lessons in a class and I was having difficulty hearing the teacher and understanding she was saying something funny and everybody else was laughing and I missed the whole thing. So I started researching and started looking online, and I found a discount hearing aid seller and I bought the Resounds, and I was happy with them for a few years, even though, they didn't, the charge didn't last through the whole day. If I got up at eight and you put the hearing aids in, by dinner time they were dead. So that was not, I was not happy with that. So, but then the last couple of years they were difficult to keep connected. So I got very frustrated with that and decided that it was time to buy a new pair of hearing aids. And I think six years is about the life expectancy of hearing aids anyway. So I started shopping again and I found Zip Hearing online. They had a whole bunch of different brands. I had been recommended to buy Oticon. They said that this was, you know, the best brand and the most best clarity, and they were using AI and I thought that was great. So I would get that. And I was quoted around 7300 for those, and I was determined not to pay 7300, even though she said, oh, you won't. It was a new version. And she said, you won't find these anywhere else because they're brand new. So taking that as a challenge, I went home and I immediately found Zip Hearing and contacted them and their price for the same pair of hearing aids that I had been quoted 7300 for, their price was $4,595 or something like that. So I made an appointment to see the local audiologist through Zip hearing. And he recommended another brand. He said he was happy to order resound for me. And not resound, but oticon and but he would strongly recommend Widex because in all of his years he had fewer problems and fewer complaints with Widex. So I accepted his recommendation. I'm happy I did. They've been great. I've been wearing them for about two months, and they are, the clarity is great. And they charge really fast and they hold the charge. I think they hold the charge for like 24 hours and they're really small. They're really easy to wear and they have different colors. I chose this color because it's the closest to my gray hair, and they're really easy to wear. And, the clarity is really good. I was really delighted with Zip Hearing because they were very responsive to my calls. I think I spoke with Grant, and I think I spoke with Jeff and they were very lovely gentlemen. And the audiologist was really very nice. And when I first got the hearing aids, they were quite loud. My hearing loss is not really severe, it's very moderate. So they came when they were new, they were really loud. So I went back a couple times for adjustments and the last adjustment was just perfect. So it's adjusted down to, you know, where I'm comfortable. But if I'm in a situation where I need more volume than they adjust in the back of each hearing aid, one adjusts one side adjusts higher and the other side adjusts lower. And then there's also the app. That is really interesting because it's got a lot of adjustments, a lot of options. I don't need them all, but they're great. It's great that they're there. And so it's really lovely to be able to adjust them on my phone any time and actually this pair, as opposed to resound this, I can turn them off completely. Where resound you couldn't turn them off, you could turn them down, but you could never turn them off. These turn off completely. Which I think is really handy because sometimes things are really too loud. So I've been really happy with the hearing aids. They work well. They charge well. They last a long time. They really help me hear in groups in crowds and individually and when I'm watching television. I'm happy with the service that I got. The audiologist here is great. I made an appointment online and it was for, I don't know, a week or a week and a half in the future. And he called me and said, I have an opening today or I can see you tomorrow. So he was right on top of it and offered me the option of coming in earlier. So that was great and I've been really happy with Zip hearing. They were very responsive to my calls, so all around it was a very, very pleasant experience and I'm really happy with the service that I got. I'm happy with the Zip hearing and I'm happy with the hearing aids. I don't have any complaints, so I strongly recommend Zip hearing because I think the discount was around 2700 from the retail price that you would get through an outside audiologist. So I think that it's an excellent option.

Widex - very happy with them

The sound quality is great ... very natural. I've tried several brands, but came back to Widex (I've worn hearing aids for almost 10 years, and have tried Jabra, Philips, and Phonac). The domes need a little nudging to go in, but this would be true for any hearing aids, if you want snug fitting domes. I haven't yet mastered all the app has to offer, and that's the only reason I can't give 10 out of 10 stars. The hearing aids have great power (volume), but the clarity is not as good as I would like -- although it is as good, or better than the other aids I tried. Maybe the program can help me with that. It seems a little complex, but I just need some time.

Streaming music is really good

My name is Larry and I live in San Diego County, California. These are my first hearing aids, I decided that because of my wife’s continuously telling me I need hearing aids, I probably should try them. So I went to an audiologist and found this pretty good deal at ZipHearing and I’ve worked with ZipHearing and my audiologist to get me a pair of Widex 440s, which are my current brand, and they look like this, quite simple, easy to install, just put over your ear, push it in the ear, and do that. Don’t need a mirror or anything. I chose the Widex 440s because it was what my audiologist recommended after I tried ReSound and it didn’t work. We have a charger here, so I just put them in each night and they’re fine. I chose this hearing aid I said because the first one didn’t work and the audiologist recommended it. And what I like about it is the sound is good. I can hear my wife well, it’s a pretty clear and natural sound to me. My hearing loss was in the high frequency end which is pretty common for people my age. And so now what I like about it is I can hear my kids, my grand kids, my wife, and the TV better than I could before. So I’m happy with them. What I like about them is the streaming music is really good, I put on my Pandora, I Bluetooth it to my hearing aids, and it really sounds good, they’re essentially as good as a pair of Airpods, so I like them a lot, I listen to music a lot. What I don’t like about them is their application program for restaurants doesn’t seem to work very well, it doesn’t filter out the noise and the background noise in the restaurant, and the same is true I think when I’m using the focus forward TV sound you know just trying to get the TV when there’s other distractions it doesn’t have that forward focus like other hearing aids I’ve tried do. Yeah I’d recommend these hearing aids to people, especially if you listen to a lot of music. These are the Widex 440 RDs. I would recommend these to a friend. Compared to what I had before, I started few months ago with ReSound ONE 7s and I really liked them, except for the sounds always came in at a higher pitched tone, the high frequency stuff had like a lisp to it, so most of the sound was like kind of lispy, so I didn’t like that as much. What I did like with the ReSound ONE 7s is the restaurant focus, filtering out the background noise, so very good for that. Advice I’d give for someone getting hearing aids is if your first set doesn’t work, try different ones, don’t give up on them.

Some of the marketing is disappointing

Hello my name’s Lars, and I am going to do a review of the Widex Moment 440s that I’ve been using for about 2 months now. My history with hearing loss is that I had some infections in my ears and tubes when I was young and then I had some exposure to loud music, a lot, and started to get ringing in my ears about 25 years ago and have been living with it and then gradually going to the audiologist and the ENT etc started to notice a drop off in the higher frequencies and it got to the point where I wasn’t able to understand people at work, people would joke around about how bad my hearing was and I couldn’t understand my wife and daughter and I went through all this stuff with um, where I was like can you just speak up a little bit and maybe that would save us a few thousand dollars and they said, it wasn’t so great. Anyway so I got these, I first tried Eargos and they just wouldn’t do it, they just were not good enough, and then I got these Widex 440s so let me show them to you, there we go and it’s got one switch you’ll notice and they’re marked with a color blue for left, and red for right and so my review is going to be these are really the only really high end hearing aids I’ve used, I haven’t gotten Phonak or any of the competitors so I’m just going to be talking about what I like about these, not in comparison to another and I will say that one of the frustrating things about getting hearing aids is you can’t test them out like headphones you can say these are better than those, these are better than those, with hearing aids it’s like you get a recommendation, you get them and you say I guess this is what I’m dealing with with hearing aids. So what I’ll say about these, what I like about them is they do add a clarity to what I’m hearing it’s a lot better, I don’t say what as often, I still do, you know, it’s not perfect but especially with one-on-one with the family sitting around and talking to me, that’s great, watching TV is great, in a theater it’s frustrating with people behind me because you can’t I can, a cool thing about Widex’s app is you can get the, you can set it for a direction, but even so you have the microphones back there so anybody talking behind you is gonna be really loud and obviously that’s true with any hearing aid and I’m still getting used to being in a crowd the hearing aids would really help me discern people but it makes everything louder and it’s tough, it being in a crowd is very stressful. Widex has a cool little thing called ‘comfort’ where you, it’s a choice on the app where you press that and it sorta calms things down, it’s not as sharp and irritating, so I’m still getting used to all that, I had to, another frustrating thing about hearing aids is the audiologist has to program them for you and you can’t see what they’re looking at, or maybe some will show you, I think it’s they’re like oh this is too complicated you can’t look at it so with an equalizer, with a stereo I can say, oh I want a little more treble, oh I don’t like that, oh, down a little, oh up a little, with the audiologist you have to say everythings sharper, and they go oh sharper, okay, and then you say well the sound of a fork on a plate really bothers me, oh, okay, and then you get it back and it still bothering you and you’re not sure you have no visual to figure out what’s up and down so thats been kind of frustrating is having to convert these kind of complex things into words and not being able to play with it myself. With an equalizer you can play with it, sorta get it just right and understand what’s what, that’s a little frustrating, I’ll say um another one thing that I think, so I think these do a really good job, I’m guessing that they do about as good a job as Phonak, I’m not thinking of trying others cuz I think this is what hearing aids sound like. A couple of negatives, the charger here, it’s open on the top so when you take you can’t, I know some of them have a little cap, some of the brands have a little cap which is nice, I have to carry a separate little container and the containers nice so it’s just two pieces but you kinda think jeez just give me a cap and I’d be able to carry them around. Another thing and this is what’s really disappointing me here is I said to the audiologist when we were trying to get, decide on a brand, I said musics really important to me, I’m not an audiophile, I can’t just discern those tiny little things or not getting a high end system or whatever but I love listening to music and I want the music to be clear and I was excited that Widex really promotes itself as the best headphones you’ll ever have, start streaming music through your Bluetooth, oh you’re gonna be amazed, they say the best headphones you’ll ever have. Well when you stream music through these it sounds worse than a tiny little radio, transistor radio, I mean it sounds worse than the cheap free headphones you get on an airplane it’s just, it’s about what you would expect for a tiny little speaker this size but to, it’s marketed as the best headphones you’ll ever have, I mean they’re so far below that and I actually thought something was wrong, you can compare them to just the little Apple earbuds that come, not even the Air Buds, the ear buds that come with the old Iphones, so much clearer, and it just it’s very tinny and just really bad sound and I called up Widex customer support and they said yeah that’s they’re not gonna be as good as your Apple earphones, and I thought well jeez you know that’s not really how they’re marketed so that was disappointing. I would say, I don’t even use these for phones, for taking phone calls, I sometimes use them for podcasts and even still it’s a little irritating because you can’t hear the clarity of the voices, it’s very tinny and staticy. Just like a bad phone connection kind of. It’s not a bad connection but just cheap you know like there’s nothing wrong it’s just a very very sounds very very cheap so for again things that cost several thousand dollars and market themselves as having this aspect, it was very disappointing. I’m sure it’ll get better with time but that’s where it is now. And so I think summing up, I think the Widex is a good choice for hearing aids, I mean it certainly feels like what I paid for. Some of the marketing as I said is not really, is disappointing, but oh another thing I should, but I think it’s certainly worthwhile of going to, I wouldn't be disappointed, I don’t think that going with another brand would get me much better is I guess what I’m saying. One other thing I should point out is they sent me, so you get this box you know it’s a very nice package and they sent me several, you know all the paper that comes with it. I was missing the instruction manual and what’s weird is they have this which is called user instruction, you go oh there’s my instruction manual, all this is is just the hardware like how to put it in your ear, how to charge the thing, it doesn’t tell you like how to switch the program, how to use the app, etc, and I thought gosh they don’t give you anything, it turns out they left that out, they left out the manual I had to get it online, and once I got it online I go oh now I understand this whole thing. But it seems to me that see these are user instructions ear sets so it’s really like you know just these things like how to put them behind your ear like obvious stuff and missing the actual user manual so I would say like if you get these and you have the same problem I do where you’re like nobodys really telling me what this button is for and how I get it louder and what I should think about in troubleshooting, make sure you got the right manual. So there’s my review of the Widex, um hope it was helpful, and that’s it, bye bye.

They are wonderful

Hello, my name is Pat and I live in Colorado. I have had tinnitus and a mild hearing loss for about 15 years. It's progressively gotten worse, mainly in my right ear or the last 2 or 3 years and the audiologist, when I saw him about a year and a half ago, told me that I now qualify for hearing aids because it had progressed to a moderate hearing loss in my right ear. I trialed a couple of different brands. First, he had me trial a Phonak. He thought that would be appropriate for my mild to moderate hearing loss and tinnitus mitigation. The hearing was great. The tinnitus program didn't really work for me because it didn't really mask the tinnitus. It was just a one program of a swishing sound. And they hurt. They hurt my ears a lot. So I asked if I could try the widex and he had me trial the widex moment 330, which were phenomenal. As soon as we programmed them and then I changed it to the pure program. It was a clear, crisp, clean. They call it a natural sound. I haven't heard sounds like that in my environment. As long as I can remember in my adult life. It is amazing. I also really had fun playing around with the tinnitus programs. They have a Zen program that has a lot of different settings for relaxation, and it really does mask the tinnitus. There's these fractal tones, these little ding ding ding noises, along with natural water sounds and waves. And it's a wonderful program. It helps my tinnitus tremendously. I don't even notice I have it. Anyway, I trialed the Widex for about three days the best that I could. It also hurt my ears. It was, it didn't sit right on over my glasses. I tried several different ways of wearing my glasses. It hurt inside my ear. It hurt to put them in, to take them out. It hurt when I touch my ear. I just couldn't do it. So I trialed them for three days, took them back and said, I just don't think I can wear hearing aids. They hurt and I can't wear something that's going to hurt. I know I won't wear them every day. I'm not going to pay that kind of money for them, he said we could do some custom molded, in the canal kind, and those were quite spendy, so I just wasn't ready to purchase hearing aids at that time. I wanted to do a little more research and do my due diligence before I decided to pay that kind of money for hearing aids. Fast forward, I did a lot of research online. I found Zip hearing, and I spoke with a gentleman named Grant who was very, very helpful. He said we had three audiologists in our area, and one of them, um, he referred me to. He said Grant, he was confident would be able to help me figure out what would work best for me. He could help customize them the best he could and if the widex didn't work, he would recommend something that would work and he was really confident that that, Sean could help me. So I went to him and he is now my audiologist. He's phenomenal. He helped me decide upon the Widex moment 330 smart ric. And it's got a different design. As you can see, it's an L shape. It sits up higher on the ear. He made a longer wire for me, gave me a pediatric cone. The other cones were really, really big, and they hurt my ear. There's also a little tail that sticks off the end of most of the new hearing aids, and it's to help sit right inside here. After trialing them for. I tried for three weeks just the best I could, and they still hurt. He realized when I went back in that it was the tail piece where it sat right here, where it connected. That was irritating inside of my ear. So he took that off and voila! They're wonderful. I have absolutely no problems with my hearing aids. I don't even know they're in. I can hear so well. I hear clarity like I haven't heard. Like I said, in my adult life, it's amazing. What I like about the Widex specifically is it's the Bluetooth connectivity. There's several different programs, lots of different listening programs and sound settings that I can use, and I love playing around with them. I can hear my phone calls in my ear. I can hear my, messages on my computer, I can watch TV, I can use my navigation system in my car. It all goes right into my ear, I love it. Also, I wanted to tell you about the battery the charger. This is the charger plugged in. My hearing aids have 37 hours of use. The battery is good for 37 hours and without being plugged in, this wonderful little charger, gives me five more days of battery charging. So here's where the batteries go. Right in here. You can see there's it'll show you there's left and right. Right is has a little red mark on the back. Left has a blue mark and this is wonderful. So, what I specifically like about these smart ric brand is the L shape sits up higher in my on my ear. Doesn't interfere with my glasses. It provides you with better directionality so that you can hear just what you're trying to hear. You don't hear all the distracting noises around you. It also helps to tone down the wind noises. It helps like I don't have a screeching, scratching noise when I touch them. I can fix my hair. It doesn't bother them at all. They are actually quite amazing. I love them. So that said, try zip hearing. They are wonderful. I am nothing but satisfied and I would give them a ten star if I could. They provided me with the best audiologist who would allow me to come back and see him as many times as I need to. I have a free hat, a free 45 day trial period, and if these hearing aids didn't work, Sean was going to try to help me figure out some other type of hearing aid, and I would have another free 45 day period to trial those hearing aids until we could get it right. Zip hearing also provided me with a 35% discount over what I was originally quoted at the previous audiologist. And my husband and I both got hearing aids at the same time, so we even got a discount, an extra discount for that. So that said, the only thing that I can think of, if anybody is trying to decide what hearing aids to use, go to zip hearing. They will help you find the right audiologist. They'll help you find the right brand. And if they don't work at first, if they hurt your ears. I heard that was a problem with a lot of people. If they hurt your ears, go back and see your audiologist and he will help you figure out what you need to do, like I did. I almost gave up on them. I had to go back and see Sean 3 or 4 times, but once we got it figured out, they're wonderful. I absolutely love my new Widex moment 330 smart Ric, thank you very much for listening.

Common questions about Widex Moment hearing aids

Bluetooth / Connectivity Rechargeability Disposable Batteries Controls/Apps Miscellaneous

Choose questions category:

Is this hearing aid Bluetooth compatible?

The SmartRIC, sRIC R D, RIC 312 D, BTE R D, and BTE 13 D models are all Made for iPhone, which means they can connect directly with iPhones to stream music, phone calls, and more. These models are also compatible with the new Android protocol, Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA), allowing direct streaming from select Android devices with Android 10 and Bluetooth 5.0. If your phone isn't directly compatible with MOMENT, or if you're getting the RIC 10 model or one of the custom in-the-ear Moment models, you can still get Bluetooth functionality via the COM-DEX streaming accessory.

Does this hearing aid allow for hands-free phone calls?

Yes, but only via the COM-DEX or Sound Assist accessory. You'll be able to hear the callers voice streaming through the hearing aids, and the caller will hear your voice via the microphone on the COM-DEX or Sound Assist device, which should be worn around your neck so the microphone is in close proximity to your mouth.

Can this hearing aid be paired directly to my Bluetooth TV?
No. To stream audio from the TV you'll need the TV-DEX device.
How many hours a day do the batteries last?

The Moment sRIC and BTE R D models last around 16 hours a day with a few hours of streaming. With no streaming, they should last around 20 hours. The SmartRIC model lasts 37 hours without Bluetooth streaming and up to 27 hours with 8 hours of Bluetooth streaming.

What if I'm on-the-go and my battery dies?

The newest model from Widex (SmartRIC), is compatible with a portable charger, which will allow you to charge the hearing aids on the go.  Unfortunately Widex doesn't make a mobile power pack or travel charger for any of their other models, but they do have a recommendation. If you buy a mobile power bank, like the kind used for cell phones, you can plug your Widex into that and draw power from it. Widex recommends the following powerbanks, which can be found on Amazon: ZMI PowerPack 10000mAh, Anker PowerCore 10000mAh, Anker PowerCore 20100mAh.

How long does it take to get a full charge?
A full charge takes 4 hrs, and that'll get you 16-24 hours of battery life. A 30 minute quick charger will get you 4 hours of battery life.
What is the lifespan of the rechargeable batteries?
The battery should last about 1500 charges. That means if you charge it every day, just over 4 hrs. When the battery dies, your hearing provider will have to ship the hearing aid to Widex for a battery replacement. We expect local providers to charge between $150-$250 for this.
How will I know when my battery needs to be charged?
Depending on how your hearing provider has setup the hearing aid, a few hours before the battery dies you'll hear a spoken notification that says "battery low," or a tone. Then, a few minutes ebfore the battery dies, you'll hear the same notification again, reminding you that you need to charge your hearing aids.
Does the charger include a dehumidifier?
The standard charger included with all orders does not. If you live in a humid environment or are concered about moisture, we recommend upgrading to the Charge n Clean charger which does have a drying feature.
How long do the batteries last?
The battery on the RIC 10 & CIC model will only last 2-4 days. The 312 battery models will last 4-6 days.
How will I know when it's time to change the battery?
Depending on how your hearing provider has setup the hearing aid, a few hours before the battery dies you'll hear a spoken notification that says "battery low," or a tone. Then, a few minutes ebfore the battery dies, you'll hear the same notification again.
Are the batteries hard to change?
The RIC 10 model, and CIC model can both be challenging if you have poor dexterity, because they use the smallest battery size available. The size 312 batteries on the other models are easy enough for most people to change.
How can I control this hearing aid, and which settings can I control?
If the model has an onboard push button, that can be used to control the volume and program, as can the RC-DEX remote. Or, you can use the MOMENT app to control the volume, program, base and treble, and microphone directionality.
Does the app have a “Find My Hearing Aid” feature?
Yes, though in order for this feature to work, your hearing aids must have been paired to your phone prior to misplacing them. If they were, the app will identify the last location where the aids were in communication range of the phone, allowing you to narrow your search.
How do I turn this hearing aid on and off?
If you use the rechargeable model, press and hold the onboard rockerswitch's bottom button down for 3 seconds to turn it on or off. Or, simply place the hearing aid in the charger. If you use a model with disposable batteries, opening the battery door will turn it off, and closing it will turn it on.
Which models offer Widex Zen Therapy for tinnitus relief?
All models and technology levels have relaxing Zen tones built in, with the exception of the CIC Micro style.
How is the SmartRIC (released Feb 7, 2024), different than the other Moment models?

The SmartRIC model sets itself apart from other Widex Moment models through several distinctive features, despite being built on the same platform and using the same chip. The design has been refined, with Widex adjusting the angle of the microphones to significantly reduce wind and handling noise and improve speech clarity in noisy environments. Additionally, SmartRIC introduces a new portable charger, which is a notable advancement. This charger is equipped with its own lithium-ion battery, capable of storing an industry-best 5 full charges, offering convenience for users on the go. Furthermore, the SmartRIC model boasts an improved battery life over other rechargeable Moment models, delivering 37 hours of operation without Bluetooth streaming and up to 27 hours with 8 hours of Bluetooth streaming. Initially, the SmartRIC is available in the 440, 330, and 220 technology levels, catering to a range of user requirements. The SmartRIC is available in 5 colors, which can be seen here: https://www.widex.com/en/hearing-aids/smartric/

Is this hearing aid CROS compatible?
No. If you need a CROS transmitter, you'll have to get the older EVOKE model, from 2018.
Can I get this hearing aid with a telecoil?
The RIC 312 D and XP models include a telecoil.
What happened to the Moment mRIC R D model?
In September of 2022 Widex discontinued this model and replaced it with the sRIC R D model. The 's' stands for 'Sheer', and you may see Widex Sheer referred to in advertisements, but it's just referring to this new model from Widex- the sRIC R D. As compared to the previous mRIC R D, the sRIC R D has an updated housing and several new software updates. These software updates are all available to existing Widex Moment users (of all styles), and that update can be done through the Moment App.

This allows you either clip the device on a partner, or lay it on a table, which allows it to then stream sound directly to your Moment hearing aids, making sound much more clear. You can also use Sound Assist as a Bluetooth bridge between your hearing aids, and devices like your phone, or TV audio, allowing you to stream audio from those devices, and even allowing you to have hands-free phone calls. Finally, you can use Sound Assist to control some of the settings on your hearing aids, and even act as a Telecoil for your hearing aids, if your hearing aids don't have a telecoil. In most cases, we recommend going with the newer TV Play instead. However, TV Dex could be the right choice if you're ordering a custom in-ear Moment model, as the TV Play is not compatible with the in-ear models. Plug it into the back of your TV or soundbar and the audio will be streamed directly to your hearing aids. Others can keep the TV at their preferred volume level, while you set your own volume via the app or on the hearing aids themselves.

COM-DEX, $249

COM-DEX, $249

Compatible with all Moment models except the CIC Micro. This is a Bluetooth streamer that allows you to stream audio from your phone to your hearing aids. If you have an iPhone, you don't need this, because iPhones directly stream to Widex Moment hearing aids. If you have an Android or any other phone and you want to stream from your phone, you need this. Even if you have an iPhone, it still may make sense to get this, because it does allow for hands free phone calls. Wear it around your neck and the microphone picks up your voice for the person on the other end of the call to hear, so you don't have to hold you the phone to your mouth when speaking.

RC-DEX, $149

RC-DEX, $149

Compatible with all Moment models except the CIC Micro. You probably don't need this. Most people use the app to control their hearing aids, and if not the app, then the push button on the hearing aid itself. But if neither of those suit you, this remote is a simple way to control the volume and program.

COM-DEX Remote Mic, $269

COM-DEX Remote Mic, $269

Compatible with all Moment models except the CIC Micro. Used as an optional "add on" with the standard COM-DEX. Clip the COM-DEX Remote Mic to a companion's shirt and their voice will stream directly to the COM-DEX worn around your neck, and then to your hearing aids. Their voice will come through much stronger than all the competing noise in the environment. If you have a hard time hearing in noise this accessory is a lifesaver.

KEY FEATURES

1. Dome

The image of Dome hearing aids feature

The dome slips over and encloses/protects the receiver/speaker. Domes are made with medical-grade silicone. They come in different shapes and sizes—your hearing care professional will help you pick the right size and style. Selecting the appropriate dome will change the sound performance of your hearing aids, so if you’re not achieving satisfying results with your hearing aids, your hearing provider will often consider trying a different dome style. In some cases, such as for wearers with severe or profound hearing loss, an earmold will be used instead of a dome.

2. Microphone

The microphone picks up the sound from the environment and sends it into the hearing aid for processing. You’ll mostly want to leave the microphone alone, but periodically check it to ensure it’s not being plugged up by hair care products or oils.

3. Receiver

The receiver AKA speaker delivers the sound into the ear. Widex receivers are available in 3 different strengths, standard (S), moderate (M), power (P). Your ZipHearing provider will help you determine the appropriate gain (strength/power) receiver based on the results of your hearing test. Expect to have to replace your receivers every year or so, and this is something that usually takes just a few minutes with your local ZipHearing provider.

4. Receiver wire

This thin, plastic-coated wire transmits power and signals to the receiver/speaker, which is worn inside the ear. Widex receivers are available in 5 different lengths: 0,1,2,3 & 4. Your ZipHearing provider will help you determine the appropriate length of receiver wire, by measuring your ear. In cases when your ZipHearing provider is unsure of the exact receiver length that will work best for you, we’re happy to send out a few different receiver lengths for you to try.

5. Rechargeable or disposable batteries

The image of Rechargeable or disposable batteries hearing aids feature

The model shown is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, expected to last 16-24 hours/day. The battery takes about 3 hours to fully charge, and a 30 minute quick charge will get you about 6 hours of power. Most people do buy the rechargeable model, and simply put the aids in a charger next to their bed at night, allowing them to wake up with fully charged hearing aids. Other models shown on this page (below) can be powered by a disposable size 312, 13, or 10 battery. These disposable batteries will last anywhere from 5-10 days, depending on how much Bluetooth streaming you do. Your purchase from ZipHearing includes a 1 year supply of disposable batteries.

6. Push button

The image of Push button hearing aids feature

The push button can be programmed by your hearing provider to control either the volume, or program (not both). In addition, a long press and hold turns the hearing aid off. Some people use this exclusively to control the hearing aids, and others use the app to control the hearing aids. Others (most people), use a combination of both the app and push button to make adjustments to their hearing aids. You likely won’t have to use this button often, but some people find them handy to make quick adjustments to their hearing aids when they change listening environments (ie, entering a noisy restaurant, or a quiet room). Your hearing provider will go over the options available and make sure your hearing aids are set up to your ideal preferences.

7. Water resistant

Widex Moment has an IP68 rating, meaning it’s protected from dust getting inside and can withstand exposure to water. The IP68 rating means the hearing aid can technically be underwater up to 3 feet, for up to 30 minutes, without sustaining damage, but we’d still advise exercising caution around water.

8. Wax filter

When it comes to maintaining your hearing aids, this is where you’ll spend most of your time. The wax filter (mostly) prevents wax and oils from getting into the receiver/speaker. Your hearing provider may supply you with Widex Nanocare wax filters enabling you to periodically change these on your own. Some people never have to change these wax filters, others have to change them weekly. Your purchase includes 1 pack of wax filters, and you can purchase additional wax filters directly from your ZipHearing provider, or through a number of sites online such as Amazon.
