Widex Moment reviews

Summary

Customers say

The Moment hearing aids are praised for their natural and exceptional sound quality, restoring clarity to high-pitched sounds, TV, and music. Bluetooth connectivity enhances functionality by allowing users to stream audio, answer calls, and control settings via the Moment app, which also provides customization for tone and frequency adjustments. Users appreciate the comfort of the secure rubber domes, extended battery life, and discreet design. However, some experience issues with Bluetooth dropouts during phone calls, less-than-ideal TV sound, occasional feedback, and challenges with background noise in crowded environments. Additionally, a few users found the size uncomfortable, especially when wearing glasses, and noted that the user manual lacked comprehensive instructions.

So pleased

Hi guys. My name is Dave. I'm calling in from beautiful Aurora, Colorado. Early summer day. I rarely do these kind of things, but I've been so pleased, with my hearing aids, with the product and the service that I've received. So let me walk you through my experience, my hearing loss history, probably over the last 7 or 8 years, it's gotten more and more profound. I also have tinnitus and I have high frequency hearing loss, which, of course, is my wife's voice and other female voices. And so, for my wife as well as to help myself, I decided to finally bite the bullet and get hearing aids. I played the drums. I have played for 50 years, and I still am an active musician, so that's probably not helped. I try to wear hearing protection when I play. But one of the things that actually helps the relief from tinnitus is when I'm playing music, because it takes my mind off of it. The brand of hearing aid I chose is Widex. Sorry, I don't know the model number, but they're really great. I also have this charger, which can actually be unplugged for, like, up to five days, and you can still charge. So it's the latest kind of charging technology, I think. Why did I choose Widex? I heard they were good for tinnitus. I heard they were good for musicians and then I found the Zip hearing website and lo and behold, there it was. I really have to say I've been impressed with Zip hearing I really liked the business model. A little bit of a leap of faith to do business over the internet. But I worked with Grant, and he's very responsive. He referred me to a local audiologist in the area, and that relationship has been awesome as well. Of course, I also like the trial period. It may not be as long as, you know, some others, like Costco. But there was never any doubt they've worked really well. So blew right through the trial period. And I have been very happy. I really haven't had any trouble. I did have a little soreness in my left ear and had to play around with the dome a little bit, but that's sort of a physical problem I had to deal with. And I think I've straightened it out and again, the relationship with your local audiologist will help with that. As far as my experience, I over the last several years, I first tried a much more expensive hearing aid from a different audiologist. Honestly, maybe I didn't know what I was doing, but that just didn't work out. I felt like they were overcharging and under-serviced kind of, the relationship wasn't as good, that sort of thing. So, anyway, I stopped going to them. The next one I tried was Costco. Of course, they're the biggest, I guess hearing aid, source in the country now, their service is great and great people and all of that. However, you know, the products that they sell are a little bit reduced, and I just don't think their technology is as good, right. And so you can save some money there. But I wasn't I was never satisfied with my hearing and always having to go back and get them serviced and get help and cleaning. Just the model just never seemed to stay clean. So anyway, long story short, tried both of those over the years and then found Zip hearing Widex and my local audiologist. I've been wearing them now for, I don't know, three months, four months and yeah, I find myself reaching for them in the morning, to put them in. So that's a great sign, right? I actually want to wear them now. So, yeah, I really would recommend trying out the Zip hearing, website and their business model worked really well for me. Hope this helps.

Render music the most realistically

Hi, my name is Steven and I'm looking for a few things in hearing aids. I have a white noise problem being able to distinguish sounds. When you've got a bunch of people at a restaurant or in a meeting, things like that. Often it's hard without captions being able to hear the hear the TV. And, that has something to do with how they record films today. But nevertheless, it's a bit of an annoying problem. And I'm a real music aficionado. Classical jazz and fusion prog rock mostly and I like to appreciate all the nuances of music, and a lot of hearing aids really degrade what you're perceiving. And so you're not really able to appreciate the excellence of the musicians or the dynamics of the sound. So that's quite important to me. My hearing itself for my age is quite normal. It's got attenuation at the high ends and it's not something where I've got profound hearing loss, but, it does interfere with my daily life, because I want to be able to hear what people are saying and not have to ask them again to repeat what they've said, especially in noisy settings, for example, because it gives the impression you're not paying attention to them, even if you are. And of course, in terms of music, it's nice to be able to hear all the nuances of the music as I mentioned. So when looking for hearing aids, I was looking for a variety of different things, really solutions to all of those problems, in addition to comfort. I found these through Zip Hearing and the ones I settled on were the Phonak Infinio 90s. And let me talk just a little bit about the other ones that I had also looked at. I looked at the Oticon Intent, quite good overall, but the Android app is just atrocious and you can't do much of anything with it. I didn't really like that. Musically, I thought they were pretty good and they were reasonably effective, but they weren't as good as the Phonaks, and so they really lost out there. I thought they were quite good in terms of comfort. They were maybe the most comfortable at ten out of ten, whereas the Phonaks are, let's say, an eight and a half out of ten. But overall, they were certainly a contender, I would say. The Widex were quite interesting. I had tried the Widex Moment 440s, and ostensibly the Widex are considered to be the best for listening to or experiencing music. My own experience was contrary to that. I didn't find that they were terrible for music, but I found that they were just acceptable. But even worse, their Bluetooth functionality and their app functionality were so bad that I couldn't actually have a regular phone conversation through my hearing aids whatsoever, I would have to go to speakerphone or to a regular Bluetooth, which would make me drop the hearing aids. There's simply no way to sustain a connection with Bluetooth because the Bluetooth and the Widex was just atrocious. I would rate it. It barely worked, so I rate it, you know, a zero or a one. To me, it was an absolute reason not to get them, especially for the amount of money that they cost. And I also looked at a few other different hearing aids, and they had various advantages and disadvantages. But at the end of the day, the Phonak's rendered music the most realistically for me. They certainly help with respect to discerning white noise. The Android app is quite helpful and it allows you to change, it's automatic, but it also allows you to change it to a number of settings and to custom program it to any particular setting based on your own musical and other preferences for a variety of environments and I appreciate that. They're very easy to use. They're quite comfortable, not as much as the Oticon, but eight and a half or nine out of ten. Nothing, that is a real problem for me and everything else about them, I would say I just love. So, going forward, 3 to 5 years from now, when it's time to replace them, Phonak would certainly be the first place that I start. I'd certainly do it again through Zip Hearing. They led me to a great audiologist, one who was objective and disinterested, unlike the other audiologists who clearly were trying to sell some particular brand. Their price was great and Grant was extremely helpful. So I would recommend both Zip Hearing and Phonak at least the Phonak Infinio 90s. I can't really speak to the other ones at this point and that would be my starting point once I am at the point where I am looking for these in the future. So I hope, those perspectives, which are naturally subjective, based on my own, preferences and what's important to me are of some help to those of you who are watching. Thanks.

My quality of life has really improved

Hi, my name is Mike, I’m 61 years old and I spent 41 years in the volunteer fire service, and also 31 years in an industrial complex, and when it got time to retire, I noticed that my hearing wasn’t as good as it used to be, so I decided to get my hearing checked by a local audiologist. When I went in I was not really surprised to find that I had some hearing loss and that I needed some help. So they recommended that I purchase Widex brand hearing aids and told me that they were high quality and that I would really have a good experience with it, and they were right on the money on that. I’ve been very pleased with them, my quality of life has really improved since I started wearing them. I was having trouble understanding my grandkids, I could hear them talk, but I couldn’t tell what the words were, and I missed out on a lot of conversations because of that. Once I got the hearing aids my life improved quite a bit, and I’ve had no trouble with them at all, in fact this morning I was coming back from making an ambulance call and when I took my respirator off, my one hearing aid got flipped off and I didn’t even know it. I got home and found out that I had a hearing aid missing, and one of the features of the Widex brand is there’s a locator to search for your hearing aid. I used that with my cell phone app and was able to locate the hearing aid at the fire station. These things are so comfortable that a lot of times you don’t even realize you have them on. I highly recommend them and thank you for your time.

Far superior

Sound quality is far superior to any hearing aid I tried. They are made well. Battery life is great..about 7 days. Tons of customization options Easy to program. The only thing I am not happy about is that Widex doesn’t have a rechargeable case option for this hearing aid and every other manufacturer does. Bottom line is that they make a great product.

Crisp sound quality

Great sound quality, especially if you have your audiologist adjust your hearing aids after the first few weeks of usage. I've probably been talking to myself out loud without realizing it for a long time - because when my audiologist made some adjustments after my first month of usage, the sound was so crystal clear that I jumped when I heard myself muttering.

Not my first set of hearing aides

This isn't my first set of hearing aides. I knew what to expect, and actually had the same brand I have now. The sound quality is good. They have the features I was looking for. They're comfortable and seem to be durable.

This model is their least expensive model, but it’s sufficient.

Hello my name is Jay, I’m a retired disability specialist, I live in Ocean City, Maryland, and I’m here to to talk about my choice of hearing aids, which in this instance is Widex Moment 110 model. My hearing loss history is basically a gradual degradation, and moderate degradation of hearing that I became aware of when I had difficulty listening to my wife speak to me, in a relatively normal tone of voice, and I would kind of like catch it mid way, missing like the subject of the sentence and I would had to ask her about that, and then she would kinda raise her voice to make it more clear for me to understand and sometimes I would get that adrenaline rush in the back of my neck, and not very pleasant, so I agreed to get my hearing tested and you know, if it ended up that I really could use some help in this area that I would have no problem getting a hearing aid system. And that’s what happened you know I got tested and I found out that I had a moderate degree of degradation especially in my left ear, especially regarding the treble or high end range of the sonic spectrum. So, I had seen a promotional video by the guitarist from the band Toto and he was raving about these aids. I’m a guitarist and I still play and I love listening to music, and you know he was speaking to me, I kinda understand what he was saying, especially when he was talking about dynamic range and things like that. So you know after I found out that because of my age and because I’m a Medicare recipient that you know, most of this would be paid for, this is a pretty expensive system, you know I decided to go right off the bat with this system that the guy from Toto recommended. This is what they look like, they’re, you know you can’t see them when they’re in. This is the charger, this is the right hearing aid, this is kind of a charger you can take with you, this is like the travel case in case you don’t want to wear them, instruction manuals, cleaning system, this is the guide to the Widex Moment application which is really neat because you have some set patterns for different hearing situations like for music or for speaking some one you know vis-a-vis, face to face, and a third selection if you’re in a noisy room with like boomy acoustics or something like that, it kinda like mutes the background noise, and then you have customizable settings that you can make up your own setting, and you can adjust the treble, you can adjust the mid range, you can adjust the base, it’s very nice, it’s very cool, you just download the app, it’s free, get it, hook it up, Bluetooth, Bluetooth is included, so it’s a very modern system. What I like about it the most is you know I can hear when I put this in, so it does what they advertise it to. What I don’t like about it is that it’s expensive, there’s occasional feedback, but you are able to adjust the frequencies and the volume to taste, so that’s just something the more I live with them the better I get at it. So would I recommend this hearing aid to a friend? Yes especially if you’re over age 65 and have Medicare, but I have to give you the caveat that I have no experience with any other brand so this is just me telling you about my experience with the Widex system. And this model is their least prohibitively expensive model, but it’s sufficient to the requirements of the moderate loss of hearing that I experience. The one piece of advice I would give to someone that’s considering purchasing hearing aids is that you gotta be certain you’re not better off not hearing what’s going on the world, I mean there’s a lot of noise and you know, I’m hearing it everyday and you get to hear it really really crystal clear. Of course you can always remove them from your ears, and that’s an option. I had an uncle that never wore his hearing aids because he said there’s nothing worth hearing, except that when I went to talk to him, he put them in! Alright so that’s my little, you know, testimonial about the Widex Moment hearing aid system, happy hearing, have a great life, take care.

I’m real happy with the Widex Moment

Hello my name is Jim and I’m here to tell you about my new hearing aids, the Widex Moment. I’ve worn hearing aids probably for over a dozen years, I have a history of hearing loss, particularly high frequencies, I have difficulty understanding people and separating words and particularly higher frequencies, higher pitched voices. And I previously owned some Widex but they were the old ones that required batteries, and I’m real happy with the Widex Moment that I got a couple months ago actually, and you can see they’re quite small and, when I wear them, they’re hardly visible at all, most people don’t even know that I’m wearing them. A couple things that I like about these hearing aids, #1, the digital adjustment that they make is just phenomenal. I was having some difficulty separating some sounds and they tweaked them and it made a huge difference and the adjustments they can make are endless. I really love the recharge, and no longer do I have to carry batteries with, try to find batteries, or have batteries die at the least opportune moment. Instead I have a charger here that I just keep plugged into a USB port next to my bed, every night I take off my hearing aids, just put them in there, and every morning when I get up they’re fully charged. I have never had the charge run out on me and I wear them most days all day long, from the time I get up until the time I go to bed. So, it’s really a nice feature. Another thing that I really like about these that I didn’t have before is the Bluetooth capability, where these automatically hook to my phone so if I have a phone call come in, or I’m listening to anything on the phone it automatically goes to my hearing aids and I really like that. The one thing I found that these don’t do very well with although, through Bluetooth, you can stream music from your phone for example, to hear that on your hearing aids, but they’re just not made for music and high quality sound like that so, if you ever compare them to AirPods or anything like that I think you’ll be disappointed, but face it that’s not what they’re designed for. I am a college professor and have had difficulty hearing students, particularly during the pandemic and students were wearing masks, I can’t see them, I can’t see what they’re saying, I can’t read their lips any longer, and so being able to get the newest technology of hearing aids has really helped me in the classroom, helped me understand students. It helps me a great deal in my relationship because I don’t have to ask my wife to repeat herself all the time. Anyway I strongly recommend the Widex Moment hearing aid, I think that it’s just, it’s amazing the quality of life when you’re able to hear, and you feel a part of things again, in many cases, when I kinda felt left out when I couldn’t hear things, or I couldn’t follow conversations, particularly in situations where there was a lot of background noise. One of the beauties of the Widex Moment is that you have the capability to filter out a lot of that background noise. Like I said the adjustments are endless, the ability to adjust them yourself and set up custom settings on your phone is wonderful, and certainly the professionals that I’ve had to assist me throughout the process with these hearing aids has just been wonderful, so I recommend them wholeheartedly and definitely think that if you’re having trouble hearing I think it’s definitely something that you should look into. Of course I would be remiss if I didn’t talk about ZipHearing and the fact that they made it very easy for me to get these hearing aids, they were very responsive and quite frankly was able to get these high quality Widex Moment hearing aids at a much lower cost than I could anywhere else, but they were responsive, I was able to get them very quickly, and the professional help I’ve had in fitting and adjusting them has been top notch. So definitely recommend them and like I said if you’re having difficulty hearing or are interested in upgrading your hearing aids I think this is definitely a wise choice. Hope this has helped.

I couldn't be happier with these

Hi my name is Suzanne. I’m 87 years old and I live in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and I wear hearing aids. I’ve had hearing aids for about 10 years but these are my new ones and they’re made by Widex. And uh, I couldn't be happier with them. Um, the ones I had before were Starkeys. They were good but they weren't programmable to the extent that these ones are which allows me to be in a public place and get rid of the extraneous noise around me or watch TV and hear voices really clearly, or listen to someone on my left, or of course listen to music. And a lot of musicians apparently choose Widex. I did a lot of research online before I chose these and I am really glad I did. This is the charging unit that the hearing aids go in and it sits by my bed at night and charges them completely by morning. Um, yeah my hearing has been deteriorating for about 10 years and it’s ironic that I come from a family on my mother’s side where both my grandparents were deaf and I never had any idea what it means to be unable to hear clearly. I thought it meant everything was just quieter but it doesn't mean that. It means you can hear certain things in words but not other things; I know I can hear the consonants but not the vowels. It just is a lot of effort to try and hear and you can't without hearing aids. But the advice I would give to people who are thinking about getting hearing aids is do a lot of research online; that is certainly what I did. I happen to love the Widex because they are really good for music and I love music as well as words. What is a little challenging for me is that the phone comes through my ears through the hearing aids and so if the phone rings I hear it in here, so if I am in the other room far from where the phone is then I have to come because it is ringing in my ear. I have to go and get the hearing aids and if I am talking to someone I have to remember to take the phone with me if I am going to be walking away from where the phone is. Let’s say I am in the kitchen and I am going to the sink to do something; if I leave the phone on my desk when I am talking, the person on the other end would say “I’m losing you, I’m losing you” so these are just things to get adjusted to. And the fact that it takes a couple of months for the brain to connect to the hearing, the changes in your hearing with the hearing aids. I couldn't be happier with these and I would recommend them to anyone.

Common questions about Widex Moment hearing aids

Bluetooth / Connectivity Rechargeability Disposable Batteries Controls/Apps Miscellaneous

Choose questions category:

Is this hearing aid Bluetooth compatible?

The SmartRIC, sRIC R D, RIC 312 D, BTE R D, and BTE 13 D models are all Made for iPhone, which means they can connect directly with iPhones to stream music, phone calls, and more. These models are also compatible with the new Android protocol, Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA), allowing direct streaming from select Android devices with Android 10 and Bluetooth 5.0. If your phone isn't directly compatible with MOMENT, or if you're getting the RIC 10 model or one of the custom in-the-ear Moment models, you can still get Bluetooth functionality via the COM-DEX streaming accessory.

Does this hearing aid allow for hands-free phone calls?

Yes, but only via the COM-DEX or Sound Assist accessory. You'll be able to hear the callers voice streaming through the hearing aids, and the caller will hear your voice via the microphone on the COM-DEX or Sound Assist device, which should be worn around your neck so the microphone is in close proximity to your mouth.

Can this hearing aid be paired directly to my Bluetooth TV?
No. To stream audio from the TV you'll need the TV-DEX device.
How many hours a day do the batteries last?

The Moment sRIC and BTE R D models last around 16 hours a day with a few hours of streaming. With no streaming, they should last around 20 hours. The SmartRIC model lasts 37 hours without Bluetooth streaming and up to 27 hours with 8 hours of Bluetooth streaming.

What if I'm on-the-go and my battery dies?

The newest model from Widex (SmartRIC), is compatible with a portable charger, which will allow you to charge the hearing aids on the go.  Unfortunately Widex doesn't make a mobile power pack or travel charger for any of their other models, but they do have a recommendation. If you buy a mobile power bank, like the kind used for cell phones, you can plug your Widex into that and draw power from it. Widex recommends the following powerbanks, which can be found on Amazon: ZMI PowerPack 10000mAh, Anker PowerCore 10000mAh, Anker PowerCore 20100mAh.

How long does it take to get a full charge?
A full charge takes 4 hrs, and that'll get you 16-24 hours of battery life. A 30 minute quick charger will get you 4 hours of battery life.
What is the lifespan of the rechargeable batteries?
The battery should last about 1500 charges. That means if you charge it every day, just over 4 hrs. When the battery dies, your hearing provider will have to ship the hearing aid to Widex for a battery replacement. We expect local providers to charge between $150-$250 for this.
How will I know when my battery needs to be charged?
Depending on how your hearing provider has setup the hearing aid, a few hours before the battery dies you'll hear a spoken notification that says "battery low," or a tone. Then, a few minutes ebfore the battery dies, you'll hear the same notification again, reminding you that you need to charge your hearing aids.
Does the charger include a dehumidifier?
The standard charger included with all orders does not. If you live in a humid environment or are concered about moisture, we recommend upgrading to the Charge n Clean charger which does have a drying feature.
How long do the batteries last?
The battery on the RIC 10 & CIC model will only last 2-4 days. The 312 battery models will last 4-6 days.
How will I know when it's time to change the battery?
Depending on how your hearing provider has setup the hearing aid, a few hours before the battery dies you'll hear a spoken notification that says "battery low," or a tone. Then, a few minutes ebfore the battery dies, you'll hear the same notification again.
Are the batteries hard to change?
The RIC 10 model, and CIC model can both be challenging if you have poor dexterity, because they use the smallest battery size available. The size 312 batteries on the other models are easy enough for most people to change.
How can I control this hearing aid, and which settings can I control?
If the model has an onboard push button, that can be used to control the volume and program, as can the RC-DEX remote. Or, you can use the MOMENT app to control the volume, program, base and treble, and microphone directionality.
Does the app have a “Find My Hearing Aid” feature?
Yes, though in order for this feature to work, your hearing aids must have been paired to your phone prior to misplacing them. If they were, the app will identify the last location where the aids were in communication range of the phone, allowing you to narrow your search.
How do I turn this hearing aid on and off?
If you use the rechargeable model, press and hold the onboard rockerswitch's bottom button down for 3 seconds to turn it on or off. Or, simply place the hearing aid in the charger. If you use a model with disposable batteries, opening the battery door will turn it off, and closing it will turn it on.
Which models offer Widex Zen Therapy for tinnitus relief?
All models and technology levels have relaxing Zen tones built in, with the exception of the CIC Micro style.
How is the SmartRIC (released Feb 7, 2024), different than the other Moment models?

The SmartRIC model sets itself apart from other Widex Moment models through several distinctive features, despite being built on the same platform and using the same chip. The design has been refined, with Widex adjusting the angle of the microphones to significantly reduce wind and handling noise and improve speech clarity in noisy environments. Additionally, SmartRIC introduces a new portable charger, which is a notable advancement. This charger is equipped with its own lithium-ion battery, capable of storing an industry-best 5 full charges, offering convenience for users on the go. Furthermore, the SmartRIC model boasts an improved battery life over other rechargeable Moment models, delivering 37 hours of operation without Bluetooth streaming and up to 27 hours with 8 hours of Bluetooth streaming. Initially, the SmartRIC is available in the 440, 330, and 220 technology levels, catering to a range of user requirements. The SmartRIC is available in 5 colors, which can be seen here: https://www.widex.com/en/hearing-aids/smartric/

Is this hearing aid CROS compatible?
No. If you need a CROS transmitter, you'll have to get the older EVOKE model, from 2018.
Can I get this hearing aid with a telecoil?
The RIC 312 D and XP models include a telecoil.
What happened to the Moment mRIC R D model?
In September of 2022 Widex discontinued this model and replaced it with the sRIC R D model. The 's' stands for 'Sheer', and you may see Widex Sheer referred to in advertisements, but it's just referring to this new model from Widex- the sRIC R D. As compared to the previous mRIC R D, the sRIC R D has an updated housing and several new software updates. These software updates are all available to existing Widex Moment users (of all styles), and that update can be done through the Moment App.

Compatible with the following Moment models: sRIC R D, RIC 312 D, SmartRIC, BTE 13 D, BTE R D. Sound Assist is a multipurpose device that Widex calls a 'Swiss Army Knife' for your hearing aids that fits in the palm of your hand. There are multiple ways to use this accessory. First, and probably the most popular way to use it, is as what's called a 'remote mic' or 'partner mic.' This allows you either clip the device on a partner, or lay it on a table, which allows it to then stream sound directly to your Moment hearing aids, making sound much more clear. You can also use Sound Assist as a Bluetooth bridge between your hearing aids, and devices like your phone, or TV audio, allowing you to stream audio from those devices, and even allowing you to have hands-free phone calls. Finally, you can use Sound Assist to control some of the settings on your hearing aids, and even act as a Telecoil for your hearing aids, if your hearing aids don't have a telecoil. Sound Assist is compatible with all Bluetooth-compatible Widex Moment hearing aids, which is all models except the RIC 10, and the custom in-the-ear models. Sound Assist is powered by a lithium-ion rechargeable battery, which is fully charged in 3 hours and can then provide up to 10 hours of use time.

KEY FEATURES

1. Dome

The image of Dome hearing aids feature

The dome slips over and encloses/protects the receiver/speaker. Domes are made with medical-grade silicone. They come in different shapes and sizes—your hearing care professional will help you pick the right size and style. Selecting the appropriate dome will change the sound performance of your hearing aids, so if you’re not achieving satisfying results with your hearing aids, your hearing provider will often consider trying a different dome style. In some cases, such as for wearers with severe or profound hearing loss, an earmold will be used instead of a dome.

2. Microphone

The image of Microphone hearing aids feature

The microphone picks up the sound from the environment and sends it into the hearing aid for processing. You’ll mostly want to leave the microphone alone, but periodically check it to ensure it’s not being plugged up by hair care products or oils.

3. Receiver

The image of Receiver hearing aids feature

The receiver AKA speaker delivers the sound into the ear. Widex receivers are available in 3 different strengths, standard (S), moderate (M), power (P). Your ZipHearing provider will help you determine the appropriate gain (strength/power) receiver based on the results of your hearing test. Expect to have to replace your receivers every year or so, and this is something that usually takes just a few minutes with your local ZipHearing provider.

4. Receiver wire

This thin, plastic-coated wire transmits power and signals to the receiver/speaker, which is worn inside the ear. Widex receivers are available in 5 different lengths: 0,1,2,3 & 4. Your ZipHearing provider will help you determine the appropriate length of receiver wire, by measuring your ear. In cases when your ZipHearing provider is unsure of the exact receiver length that will work best for you, we’re happy to send out a few different receiver lengths for you to try.

5. Rechargeable or disposable batteries

The model shown is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, expected to last 16-24 hours/day. The battery takes about 3 hours to fully charge, and a 30 minute quick charge will get you about 6 hours of power. Most people do buy the rechargeable model, and simply put the aids in a charger next to their bed at night, allowing them to wake up with fully charged hearing aids. Other models shown on this page (below) can be powered by a disposable size 312, 13, or 10 battery. These disposable batteries will last anywhere from 5-10 days, depending on how much Bluetooth streaming you do. Your purchase from ZipHearing includes a 1 year supply of disposable batteries.

6. Push button

The push button can be programmed by your hearing provider to control either the volume, or program (not both). In addition, a long press and hold turns the hearing aid off. Some people use this exclusively to control the hearing aids, and others use the app to control the hearing aids. Others (most people), use a combination of both the app and push button to make adjustments to their hearing aids. You likely won’t have to use this button often, but some people find them handy to make quick adjustments to their hearing aids when they change listening environments (ie, entering a noisy restaurant, or a quiet room). Your hearing provider will go over the options available and make sure your hearing aids are set up to your ideal preferences.

7. Water resistant

Widex Moment has an IP68 rating, meaning it’s protected from dust getting inside and can withstand exposure to water. The IP68 rating means the hearing aid can technically be underwater up to 3 feet, for up to 30 minutes, without sustaining damage, but we’d still advise exercising caution around water.

8. Wax filter

When it comes to maintaining your hearing aids, this is where you’ll spend most of your time. The wax filter (mostly) prevents wax and oils from getting into the receiver/speaker. Your hearing provider may supply you with Widex Nanocare wax filters enabling you to periodically change these on your own. Some people never have to change these wax filters, others have to change them weekly. Your purchase includes 1 pack of wax filters, and you can purchase additional wax filters directly from your ZipHearing provider, or through a number of sites online such as Amazon.

9. Dome

10. Microphone

The microphone picks up the sound from the environment and sends it into the hearing aid for processing. You’ll mostly want to leave the microphone alone, but periodically check it to ensure it’s not being plugged up by hair care products or oils.
