Oticon Jet

Oticon Jet PX Review: Big-Brand Technology Without the Premium Price

The Oticon Jet PX is an essential-level hearing aid designed to bring premium sound processing features into a more accessible price bracket. While it lacks the advanced capabilities of the flagship Oticon Intent, it integrates core Oticon technology that previously required a much higher investment. For users seeking a reputable brand, modern connectivity, and reliable speech clarity without paying top-tier prices, the Jet PX represents a practical, high-value middle ground.

Core Technology and Sound Processing

The primary differentiator for the Jet PX in the budget category is the inclusion of Oticon’s Deep Neural Network technology. Rather than simply increasing overall volume, this advanced processing works to recognize and organize environmental sounds. It categorizes speech, background noise, and competing voices, presenting them in a balanced manner to reduce listening effort in complex environments like restaurants or group conversations.

This approach is supported by OpenSound Navigator, which maintains access to peripheral sounds instead of aggressively blocking out everything except the person speaking directly in front of you. By keeping the soundscape open, the Jet PX produces a more natural listening experience and avoids the artificial tunnel-vision effect common in basic hearing aids.

Form Factors, Batteries, and Connectivity

The Jet PX is available in two physical styles (shown below) to accommodate different functional and cosmetic preferences. The miniRITE is a small, discreet receiver-in-the-ear design that sits comfortably behind the ear and is preferred by the majority of wearers. For individuals requiring greater physical durability or easier handling due to dexterity challenges, the slightly larger miniBTE design offers a robust alternative.

Both form factors provide a choice between power sources. The rechargeable configurations deliver up to 24 hours of use on a single charge, though heavy streaming and high-noise environments will increase battery drain. Alternatively, the disposable configurations utilize standard size 312 batteries for users who prefer not to rely on a charging dock.

Oticon Jet PX 1 miniRITE R shown in Chestnut Brown. Jet PX is available in five color options, allowing you to choose a shade that best matches your hair color, skin tone, or personal preference.

Connectivity options are comprehensive for an essential-tier device, ensuring it does not feel stripped down. The Jet PX supports direct streaming from iOS and select Android devices, integrates with the Oticon Companion app, and is compatible with external accessories like the ConnectClip and TV Adapter (all shown below). Additionally, all models include a built-in telecoil, which provides direct audio access in looped public venues such as theaters and places of worship.

Limitations and Technical Trade-offs

To maintain its lower price point, the Jet PX omits several processing technologies found in Oticon's flagship models. Most notably, it lacks 4D Sensor technology, which tracks head and body movements to determine user intent and automatically adjust processing. Without these sensors, the Jet PX cannot adapt as fluidly when you shift from listening to a single person to scanning a crowded room.

The device also runs on a previous-generation processing chip. It utilizes the original Deep Neural Network and older sound management algorithms rather than the newer Sirius platform found in premium models. Furthermore, the Jet PX provides fewer fine-tuning channels for your audiologist, which may limit its effectiveness for highly complex or unusual hearing loss profiles.

The Ideal User Profile

The Oticon Jet PX is a highly functional option for specific listening needs, but it is not a universal solution. It is best suited for first-time wearers who require a reliable device from an established manufacturer, as well as budget-conscious buyers who want the benefits of neural sound processing without flagship costs. It performs exceptionally well for individuals with mild-to-moderate social lifestyles who spend most of their time in predictable, low-to-medium noise environments.

Conversely, the Jet PX is less suited for individuals who frequently operate in highly demanding acoustic environments, such as large conventions, noisy workplaces, or chaotic social gatherings. For users who demand the absolute peak of speech-in-noise performance and the most precise personalization available, the premium hardware of the Oticon Intent remains the more effective investment. Viewed as a smart, practical, utility-driven device, the Jet PX delivers a compelling balance of price and performance.

Common questions about Oticon Jet hearing aids

Bluetooth / Connectivity Rechargeability Disposable Batteries Controls/Apps Miscellaneous

Choose questions category:

Is this hearing aid Bluetooth compatible?
Yes. Oticon Jet PX is Bluetooth compatible and can stream audio directly from iPhone®, iPad®, Mac®, and select Android™ devices that support ASHA. If your phone is not directly compatible, you can still stream Bluetooth audio to the hearing aids using Oticon’s ConnectClip accessory.
Does this hearing aid allow for hands-free phone calls?
Yes. Oticon Jet PX supports hands-free phone calls with compatible Apple devices, including iPhone 11 or later running iOS 15.2 or later, iPad running iPadOS 15.2 or later, and select Mac devices running macOS 14 or later. With these devices, the hearing aids act like a wireless headset, so you can hear the caller through your hearing aids and speak without holding the phone. For Android phones, Jet PX can stream audio directly from select ASHA-compatible Android devices, but hands-free calling compatibility varies by phone. If your phone is not compatible for hands-free calling, you can still use Oticon’s ConnectClip accessory, which acts as a hands-free headset when paired to your mobile phone. Because phone compatibility changes often, we recommend checking Oticon’s official compatibility page before ordering.
Can this hearing aid be paired directly to my Bluetooth TV?
No. Oticon Jet PX cannot be paired directly to a Bluetooth TV. To stream audio from your TV to the hearing aids, you’ll need Oticon’s TV Adapter 3.0 accessory.
How many hours a day do the batteries last?
Oticon Jet PX rechargeable models are designed to last up to 24 hours on a full charge. Battery life will vary depending on your hearing loss, hearing aid settings, how much you stream, the listening environments you’re in, and the age of the battery. If you stream heavily throughout the day, battery life will be shorter.
What is the lifespan of the rechargeable batteries?
Oticon does not publish an exact battery lifespan for Jet PX, but rechargeable lithium-ion hearing aid batteries typically last a few years before they begin holding less charge. If your Jet PX hearing aids no longer last a full day, take them to your hearing care provider. The rechargeable batteries can be replaced by the provider.
How will I know when my battery needs to be charged?
When the battery is running low, you’ll hear three alternate beeps. This gives you approximately two hours before the hearing aid runs out of battery. At that point, you can usually continue streaming for about one more hour. Right before the battery dies completely, you’ll hear four descending tones.
What if I'm on-the-go and my battery dies?
If your hearing aids run out of battery, they need to be placed in the charger. Turning them off and back on will not give you more battery life. If you want the ability to charge away from an outlet, choose the optional Oticon SmartCharger, which has a built-in power bank and can charge the hearing aids on-the-go.
How long does it take to get a full charge?
It depends on the style. Jet PX miniRITE R takes about 3 hours for a full charge. Jet PX miniBTE R takes about 3.5 hours for a full charge. A 30-minute quick charge gets the miniRITE R to about 25% charge and the miniBTE R to about 20% charge.
Does the charger include a dehumidifier?
No. The Jet PX charger does not include a dehumidifier. The standard charger is for charging only, and the SmartCharger adds a portable power bank, but neither charger functions as a drying system. If you’re concerned about moisture, use a separate hearing aid dryer or dehumidifier.
How long do the batteries last?
The disposable battery versions of Oticon Jet PX use size 312 batteries. Battery life is typically around 50-55 hours, but it can vary depending on your hearing loss, hearing aid settings, how much you stream, and how many hours per day you wear the hearing aids.
How will I know when it's time to change the battery?
When the battery is running low, you’ll hear three alternate beeps. At that point, you’ll have approximately 15 minutes before the hearing aid shuts off, and Bluetooth will be turned off to preserve the remaining battery. Right before the battery dies completely, you’ll hear four descending tones.
Are the batteries hard to change?
No. To change the battery, open the battery door, remove the old battery, peel the sticker off the new size 312 battery, and place it in the compartment with the + side facing up. Then close the battery door. The hearing aid should play a startup jingle when the battery is inserted correctly. Oticon also provides a MultiTool with a magnetic end that can make removing and inserting batteries easier.
How do I turn this hearing aid on and off?
It depends on whether you choose the rechargeable or disposable battery version. For the rechargeable models, the hearing aids turn on automatically when you remove them from the charger, and turn off automatically when you place them back in the charger. You can also turn them off manually by pressing and holding the push-button for about three seconds. For the disposable battery models, the battery door is the on/off switch. To turn the hearing aid on, close the battery door with the battery inside. To turn it off, open the battery door.
Does the app have a “Find My Hearing Aid” feature?
Yes. The Oticon Companion app has a “Find My Hearing Aids” feature. In order to use it, you need to have already downloaded the app and paired your hearing aids to your phone before losing them. If the hearing aids are powered on and within range, the app can help you locate them. If the hearing aids are powered off, out of range, or the batteries are dead, the app will show the last known location from when they were connected.
How can I control this hearing aid, and which settings can I control?
There are a few different ways to control Oticon Jet PX hearing aids. First, you can use the push-button on the hearing aid, which can be set up by your hearing care provider to control volume, programs, and in some cases phone calls. The miniRITE models have a double push-button, while the miniBTE models have a single push-button. For more control, we recommend using the Oticon Companion app. Through the app, you can adjust volume, change programs, mute the hearing aids, and adjust tinnitus relief sounds if your provider has enabled Tinnitus SoundSupport. If you don’t want to use the app or the buttons on the hearing aids, you can also use Oticon’s optional Remote Control 3.0 for simple volume and program changes.
Is this hearing aid CROS compatible?
Yes. Oticon Jet PX is CROS and BiCROS compatible. This can be helpful if you have little or no usable hearing in one ear. In that setup, you wear a CROS transmitter on the poorer-hearing ear, and it sends sound wirelessly to the Jet PX hearing aid on your better-hearing ear. Your local hearing care provider can determine whether a CROS or BiCROS setup is appropriate for your hearing loss.
Can I get this hearing aid with a telecoil?
Yes. Oticon Jet PX includes a telecoil. All four Jet PX models — miniRITE R, miniRITE T, miniBTE R, and miniBTE T — have telecoil built in, so you don’t have to choose a specific version just to get telecoil.
Can I buy the Oticon Jet PX 2?
Currently, the Jet PX is only available in the '1' level in the United States. Jet PX 2 does exist in some markets outside the US.

RATING 4
Oticon ConnectClip accessory
ConnectClip, $249

ConnectClip, $249

ConnectClip has two features. First, it's most commonly used as a Bluetooth streamer that allows you to stream audio from your phone to your hearing aids. If you have an iPhone, you don't need this, because iPhones stream directly to Oticon hearing aids. If you have an Android or any other phone and you want to stream from your phone, you need this. Even if you have an iPhone, it still may make sense to get this, because it does allow for hands free phone calls. Wear it around your neck and the microphone picks up your voice for the person on the other end of the call to hear, so you don't have to hold you the phone to your mouth when speaking. The second feature of ConnectClip is its ability to work as a remote microphone. If you have a hard time hearing in noise this accessory is a lifesaver. Attach the ConnectClip to a companion's shirt and their voice will stream directly to your hearing aids. Their voice will come through much stronger than all the competing noise in the environment.
RATING 5
Oticon Remote Control 3.0 accessory
Remote Control 3.0, $199

Remote Control 3.0, $199

You probably don't need this. Most people use the app to control their hearing aids, and if not the app, then the push button on the hearing aid itself. But if neither of those suit you, this remote is a simple way to control the volume and program.
