Hear things I’ve never really heard before

Review by: Frank from OH
Model: Phonak Naída Paradise 90 PR
Bought: Apr 2022

Hello my name is Frankie, and I’m posting this video about ordering a hearing aid from ZipHearing. I got my Phonak, see right here, about 2 months ago, and I’ve suffered from hearing loss most of my life, probably since 6 or 7 years old I had the mumps and that caused me to have high pitched loss so I’ve been using hearing aids off and on pretty much all my life. And then in 2013 I had a cochlear implant done but it never really clicked for me, so I decided to get back on a hearing aid and the best thing I ever did was get a hold of ZipHearing and he connected me with John and get tested and figured out the Phonaks would be the best ones for me, and I have been very happy with it. I hear things I’ve never really heard before, like birds, and clicking, beeping, all those high pitched sounds. I can hear the sirens from quite a distance away now, instead of having to be up close to hear. So it’s really been a blessing for me, and I’m so glad I contacted ZipHearing and it was one of my best decisions ever. So if you are looking for a good hearing aid, and you need a good representative, I suggest you get a hold of ZipHearing. Talk to Jeff, email him, he will get you connected and you will be so happy. It’s been a life changing event for me. You know I still struggle a bit with understanding people, you know I still have to look at their faces, but it’s so much better than it was before I got the hearing aid, so that’s coming along real good. So again, contact ZipHearing, you will be happy. Thanks have a great day.

The best product on the market

I've had the Phonak hearing aids that preceded the "paradise" model for 5 very successful years. When people tried to convince me to use another manufacturer, I was adamant that I wanted  Phonak's "paradise". The Swiss made model is, in my opinion, the best product on the market.  Such features as multi volume settings, and automatic noise reduction, among others, made it the perfect hearing aid.

Common questions about Phonak Naída Paradise hearing aids

Bluetooth / ConnectivityRechargeabilityDisposable BatteriesControls/AppsMiscellaneous

Choose questions category:

Can this hearing aid be paired directly to my Bluetooth TV?
Yes, though Phonak doesn't recommend it, as it can cause excessive battery drain. Phonak recommends purchasing the TV Connector accessory for this instead.
Is this hearing aid Bluetooth compatible?
Yes, this model is Bluetooth compatible and offers direct audio streaming from almost all phones.
Does this hearing aid allow for hands-free phone calls?
Yes. The microphones on the hearing aid will pick up your voice so the caller can hear you, without the need to hold your phone next to your mouth as you normally would. This feature works best in quiet environments. Outdoors, and in noise, the caller on the other end may say you sound like your on speakerphone.
Is this hearing aid Roger compatible?
Yes. All Naída Paradise models can pair directly to Roger devices.
How many hours a day do the batteries last?
With no streaming, the batteries should last 24 hrs. If you do stream a few hours a day, battery life will range from 11-16 hrs.
What is the lifespan of the rechargeable batteries?
Expect your battery to last 4-6 years. The battery is built-in to the hearing aid, so when it needs to be replaced, your hearing care provider will ship the hearing aid to Phonak and they'll do it. Feels will usually apply, ranging from $75-$200.
How will I know when my battery needs to be charged?
The hearing aids will make two long beep sounds. Your hearing care provider can show you a demo of these sounds in Phonak's fitting software, so you know what to expect. Typically the aids will make these notification sounds every 15-30 minutes, until the aid quits working entirely.
What if I'm on-the-go and my battery dies?
Phonak doesn't have a mobile power pack that works with the Naida P charger. However, you can buy your own external battery pack (like the kind used to charge smartphones), and plug your charger into that when you don't have access to power.
How long does it take to get a full charge?
Your hearing aids will fully charge in 3 hrs, giving you 24 hours of power. A 30 minute quick charger will get you 6 hours of power .
Does the charger include a dehumidifier?
It does not. If you live in a humid environment or are concerned about moisture, we recommend buying Phonak's D-Dry+ accessory.
Why does the app show the battery depleting faster on one aid?
This is completely normal. One of your hearing aids (right or left), will probably always drain a little bit faster than the other, on a consistent basis. This has to do with the way the hearing aids pair to the phone via Bluetooth- it always causes the battery on one aid to drain faster than the other.
How long do the batteries last?
The Naída P-UP model should last 4-5 days (with no streaming). If you do stream a few hours a day, whether it's Bluetooth streaming, or with a Roger device, expect battery life to go down to around 3-4 days.
How will I know when it's time to change the battery?
The hearing aids will make two long beep sounds. Your hearing care provider can show you a demo of these sounds in Phonak's fitting software, so you know what to expect. Typically the aids will make these notification sounds every 15-30 minutes, until the aid quits working entirely.
Are the batteries hard to change?
No. These hearing aids use a large size 675 battery. Most people have no trouble changing these batteries.
How can I control this hearing aid, and which settings can I control?
You can control the volume and program with the onboard rockerswitch, the RemoteControl, or the myPhonak app. The myPhonak app will also allow you to adjust the frequencies of the hearing aids.
How do I turn this hearing aid on and off?
If you use the rechargeable model, press and hold the onboard rockerswitch's bottom button down for 3 seconds to turn it on or off. Or, simply place the hearing aid in the charger. If you use a model with disposable batteries, opening the battery door will turn it off, and closing it will turn it on.
Does the app have a “Find My Hearing Aid” feature?
Phonak hearing aids and Phonak apps do not have a "Find My Hearing Aid" feature.
Is this hearing aid CROS compatible?
No. The latest Naída model that is CROS compatible is the Naída B, from 2017.
Can I get this hearing aid with a telecoil?
Yes, both of these Naída models come with a Telecoil.
Do the features vary between the P-PR and P-UP models?
Yes, the P-PR offers two additional features- Motion Sensor Hearing, and Tap Control. Motion Sensor Hearing can detect when you're moving and automatically steer the hearing aid microphones for better speech understanding. The Tap Control feature allows you to accept/end phone calls, pause/resume audio streaming, and access voice assistants with a Bluetooth paired cell phone.

Use this app to adjust settings like volume, programs, frequencies, and noise cancellation. Easily make changes to your hearing aid(s) to suit your personal preferences for various listening situations. You can easily adjust the volume and various hearing aid features (e.g., noise reduction and microphone directionality) or select pre-defined programs according to the different listening situation you are in. Additionally, you can make quick adjustments to the pitch of the sound in the equalizer by using the presets (default, comfort, clarity, softer, etc.) or more personalized adjustments using the sliders (bass, middle, treble). In some cases, you can even connect with your hearing provider for remote adjustments to your hearing aids. When used with the Audéo Fit model, numerous functions are available within the Health section of the app, such as Steps and Wearing time, including Optional goal setting, Activity levels, Heart rate tracking, Distance walked and ran.

The image of TV Connector hearing aids
TV Connector, $279

TV Connector, $279

Plug it into the back of your TV or soundbar and the audio will be streamed directly to your hearing aids. Others can keep the TV at their preferred volume level, while you set your own volume via the app, on the hearing aids themselves, or via the + or - buttons on the TV connector.
RATING2
The image of RemoteControl hearing aids
RemoteControl, $249

RemoteControl, $249

You probably don't need this. Most people use the app to control their hearing aids, and if not the app, then the push button on the hearing aid itself. But if neither of those suit you, this remote is a simple way to control the volume and program.
RATING3
The image of Roger On iN hearing aids
Roger On iN, $1649

Roger On iN, $1649

Roger On has 3 modes- Pointing mode, Presenter mode, and Table Mic mode. In Pointing mode, simply point it towards the subject you want to hear and it'll pick up their voice, just like a microphone would. In Presenter mode (AKA lapel mode), it'll focus almost entirely on the wearer's voice and stream that to your hearing aids. In Table Mic mode is where this accessory shines, and what gives it the advantage over Roger Pen iN. When Roger On is laid flat on a surface (like a table), it automatically figures out it's orientation and switches into an automatic directionality mode. In this mode, it can automatically shift the focus of the microphones towards the direction of speech. Roger On can also wirelessly stream audio from the TV to your hearing aids, so if you buy it, you don't need to buy the TV Connector.
RATING4
The image of Roger Select iN hearing aids
Roger Select iN, $1349

Roger Select iN, $1349

Ideal for stationary situations where background noise is present, like a table at a restaurant. Set the Select iN in the middle of the table, and it automatically selects the person who is talking and seamlessly switches from one talker to another, streaming the sound directly to your hearing aids. What's nice about the Roger Select (and the reason it's better for smaller group conversations where it can be placed within arms reach), is you can hit a button on the device to change the direction the microphone is facing – you can “select” it – and override the automatic selection, allowing you to focus on the speaker most important to you. Select iN can also be worn by someone else you want to hear, on their chest using a clip or lanyard. This is known as “lapel mode.” When in lapel mode, Select iN knows its orientation and automatically ensures the microphone points upward to pick up the voice of the speaker. The lapel mode is good for a presenter at a meeting, a fitness class, and a passenger or driver in a car. Roger Select iN can also wirelessly stream audio from the TV to your hearing aids, so if you buy a Select iN, you don't need to buy the TV Connector.
RATING5
The image of Roger Table Mic II iN hearing aids
Roger Table Mic II iN, $1888

Roger Table Mic II iN, $1888

Of all the Roger accessories, Table Mic II iN has the least versatile functionality- it's really only designed for stationary use. Ideal for working adults who participate in various meetings with multiple (4+) people involved. When placed in the middle of a table, it's able to automatically pick up the voice of the person who is talking and stream it directly to your hearing aids. Table Mic II iN automatically switches between speakers, and unlike Select, you can't manually override the choices Table Mic II iN makes. Multiple Roger Table microphones can be connected to create a network and with a range of more than 60 feet it ensures you're able to fully understand everyone at work.

If you have a hard time hearing in noise this accessory is a lifesaver. Attach this microphone to a companion's shirt and their voice will stream directly to your hearing aids. Their voice will come through much stronger than all the competing noise in the environment.

If you live in a humid environment, sweat a lot, are prone to ear infections, or are getting custom in-the-ear hearing aids, you should get this. It plugs into a standard outlet and uses UV-C light to kill germs, and blows warm air to remove moisture.
