ReSound One

Hear like no other

As of August 25, 2022, One is a (mostly) outdated model. If you want a receiver-in-canal style hearing aid from ReSound (most people do), we’d recommend checking out the next generation model, ReSound Omnia.

If you’re looking for a custom-made in-the-ear hearing aid from ReSound, the One model is still your best bet, as the Omnia family does not yet have in-the-ear models, and probably won’t for some time.

ReSound One offers in-the-ear models in the ITE, ITC, and CIC form factor. Learn more about these hearing aids below.

I’ve recommended them to all my friends

Review by: Robert from WA
Model: ReSound One 9 RIE 62
Bought: Jan 2021

Hi, my name is Bob S, I’m 91 years old, or actually will be 91 a week from yesterday. I started using hearing aids some 15 to 20 years ago, and my hearing has become poorer and poorer over time as I grew older, and in fact today I don’t hear very much if I don’t have my hearing aids in, unless my wife shouts at me, or something of that order. To get to my hearing aids, who I bought them from, we moved from a ski resort up in the mountains of New Mexico some 15 years ago, and I was wearing hearing aids that I bought out there, and I’ve forgotten what name they were, but when I got to Texas, I happened to come onto a dealer that I really liked who had good audiologists working for him, and he sold ReSound hearing aids, so I started with him and I’ve probably had maybe 5 different ReSound hearing aids since I started with them. My current ones are the ReSound ONEs, and let me take one of these off and see if we can get a picture of it. Do we see that? Yeah I believe we do see that. You can see that I’ve got molds which help my hearing, my hearing is so bad that with the normal things that you wear in your ear, molds help you better because they close out almost all of the sound other than what you’re hearing from your hearing aids. I chose ReSound because they work for me and I’ve recommended them to all my friends and all that wear hearing aids, and I did that because they work for me and I’m very comfortable with them. So let me tell you another thing, my advice to anybody wearing hearing aids is two fold. First, don’t wait too long to get your hearing aids. I waited a long time and I got tired of my wife saying “you’ve got poor hearing”, and I said “no, I don’t have poor hearing, I’ve just got selecting hearing.” At any rate, don’t wait too long, it’s better to get into them and start getting adjusted to them, it takes a little bit of adjustment. And the second reason and the most important one as far as I’m concerned, is find a place that’s got an audiologist that you can work with and that your comfortable working with and he or she is comfortable working with you. This is important because you need to not only adjust them when you buy them, but they need to be continually adjusted. As people get older, their hearing changes, and I’ve had many hearing tests with audiologists because that’s the way they can tell my hearing was changing and they can readjust my hearing aids. But that’s probably the most important thing that I can give to you- is find a specialist that you’re comfortable with and they work with you and they’re happy working with you, because it’s an important part of it. You just can’t go buy them on the web or wherever you would like to buy them and get them touched up once and then if you don’t have somebody to continue to do it, you’re going to be in trouble with your hearing aids, I have a lot of friends that never wear their hearing aids because they never got them to work for them, and this is probably the main reason why they didn’t work for them- they never kept them adjusted to their hearing. Well there you go, here’s my little interview, I hope it’s helpful for some people. But life for hearing aids is certainly a lot better than life without hearing aids.

I’m glad that I found the ReSound One 9

Review by: Lane from MN
Model: ReSound One 9 RIE 61
Bought: Dec 2020

Hi everybody, I recently had an opportunity to purchase some new hearing aids so I thought I would share a little feedback with you all. I wanted to share first about my hearing history. I have bought a new pair of hearing aids starting with when I turned 12 years old, I was diagnosed with hereditary hearing loss in the 7th grade, and therefore have been wearing hearing aids in both ears ever since. The type of hearing aid that I just bought is called the ReSound One 9, and it was a new thing for me actually to go to the ReSound. I heard about it from my audiologists that I had been working with, it’s not necessarily like me to try something new, but I thought, why not. So I started the search for new hearing aids and at first felt very overwhelmed as I always do, because there are so many options out there, but after looking into it, I decided that it was the one for me. Some pros to the ReSound- I love music, and I love listening to music, so this is the first pair of hearing aids I’ve had that have Bluetooth in them and that has been amazing for streaming and it’s been very enjoyable to be able to listen to music in that way. There are different programs and features that I’ve never had before, such as wind reduction, a noise reduction for outside, I’m outside a lot, working outside a lot. There’s a restaurant program, there’s the ability to clarify speech sounds and also filter out noises, background noises and such. Those are pros for me. I didn’t think I would use different programs very much but I’ve found that I very much enjoy them. Some negatives I guess, so I’m gonna show you them now. Some negatives. This goes on the negative side actually. So, I have never worn a hearing aid before that is so small, it is only a con I guess I would say because I have never worn one, and it’s not even really a con, that is so, you see the dome and you see the wire here, that’s what you pull on to get it on and off, for me that at first was a con because I’ve never worn hearing aids that you put it on and off by taking the wire, you have to push your finger in towards the eardrum, to get this piece in your canal, and you pull out on the wire, and to me that was like very counterintuitive, I was like oh my goodness I can’t do that, I’m gonna break it. Like I said it’s not even like a real con because I’ve gotten used to it, in the last couple weeks it’s no longer like a big issue, but at first I was like oh my goodness these are really fiddly and strange, but they’re actually great, and the dome ended up being a pro too because they’re really comfortable. It’s a different feeling from having an ear piece and I thought oh I’m gonna have like these really plugged ear feelings going on but they’re good, I enjoy them a lot. I would definitely recommend them, I’m trying to think of specific reasons why that I have not already stated, I guess I’d recommend them because of the fit. It is very convenient, the domes are very convenient. The programming, the streaming, the Bluetooth, that’s definitely a major pro for me and I would recommend the ReSound. A piece of advice that I would share with everybody is look, hearing aids are really hard to buy, and I guess, if you’ve never been there you don’t really understand it, but it’s super overwhelming, there’s like way too many options out there, they’re super expensive, it’s like a major financial commitment, for those of us who pay out of pocket. Piece of advice, it was a huge gift to stumble upon the ZipHearing videos. Okay, so they do reviews on different hearing aids, I learned about major brands, that are kind of like go-tos, that really narrowed it down from like hundreds of options to like 6 major brands, so I was able to go from there, and single in on what I purchased. So my advice to you would be to go with ZipHearing, or any other reviews you can find on Youtube, or talk to other people that wear them, get as much advice as possible, because I had been given other advice, by a different audiologist, for a different pair, and I just didn’t feel right about it. I didn’t feel right about the brand for me, and I’m glad that I kept looking. I’m glad that I found ZipHearing and I’m glad that I found the ReSound One 9. Thanks

These do not show much improvement

Good Sound Quality. My mild Tinnitus is significantly amplified. My wife complains she hears the sound whenever I enter the room or sit next to her. After reviewing ReSound One on the internet prior to buying, Tinnitus reduction was mentioned. With my previous premium seven year old ReSound's this was not a problem. I bought the ReSound One's to hear better in noisy rooms like restaurants. These do not show much improvement.

Everything sounds very natural

I got the new Resound One M&RIE 90 hearing aids and as a first time wearer I love them. Everything sounds very natural and they even do a great job in a noisy environment like a restaurant, where I can hear clearly without a lot of background noise. I definitely give these Resound Hearing Aids a Five Star Plus rating.

Very pleased

This is my first experience with hearing aids so I have nothing to compare to, with that being said, I am very pleased with the quality of the ReSound Hearing Aid. This aid has checked off all my boxes; I can have conversation again, hear on land line telephones and hear the television.

Excellent sound quality

Excellent sound quality and build quality. TV streaming with optional streaming device is excellent. Microphone in ear provides additional sound detail and directionality. No issues with rechargeable batteries. Iphone app with multiple listening programs is very convenient and each program can be adjusted to suit local environment. Covid-19 has greatly restricted social interaction but I am sure performance will be excellent in restaurants, concerts and crowded venues. Due to the products complexity there is a learning curve but well worth the effort. Overall I am extremely pleased with the purchase and highly recommend this product.

Clarity was not there

I ordered the ReSound One 9R hearing aids which had clearer sound and little background noise. I still felt the clarity was not enough when in a group the streaming to my phone was not so clear. The audiologist increased the clarity to the max and put a different dome or receiver on the hearing aids. This made me feel like there was an echo under some circumstances and like I was wearing ear plugs. My hearing borders on profound loss in some areas and I'm not sure what will be better for me, but I felt that for the money I should be able to hear better and more comfortably.

Unbelievable

The sound quality is unbelievable compared to my first pair which my new pair replaced due to having lost one of them. The clarity is unbeatable and they have been extremely comfortable since I picked them up on Dec.21st. I have not had any problems since then. The ease of using my smart phone with the new pair has been a definite plus.

Common questions about ReSound One hearing aids

Bluetooth / ConnectivityRechargeabilityDisposable BatteriesControls/AppsMiscellaneous

Choose questions category:

Does this hearing aid allow for hands-free phone calls?
If you have an iPhone 11 or newer, running on iOS 15.1 or newer, you're able to talk on the phone hands-free. If you have any other phone, you're only able to have hands-free phone calls if you get the Phone Clip + accessory. The Phone Clip + has a microphone on it that will pick up your voice for the caller, allowing you to keep the phone in your pocket/purse, etc, and talk hands free. If you don't get the Phone Clip +, you'll still be able to hear the caller's voice streamed through your hearing aids, but in order for them to hear you, you'd have to hold the phone to your mouth.
Is this hearing aid Bluetooth compatible?

One is Made for iPhone, which means it can connect directly with iPhones to stream music, phone calls, and more. One is also compatible with the new Android protocol, Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids (ASHA), allowing direct streaming from select Android devices with Android 10 and Bluetooth 5.0. If your phone isn't directly compatible with One, you can still get Bluetooth functionality via the Phone Clip +. Please note that the CIC model is not Bluetooth compatible.

Can this hearing aid be paired directly to my Bluetooth TV?
No. To stream audio from the TV you'll need the Unite TV 2 streamer.
How long does it take to get a full charge?
Your hearing aids are fully charged in 3 hours, providing 25-30 hours of use. A 30 minute quick charge provides 8 hours of power.
How many hours a day do the batteries last?
With no streaming, your battery will last an industry best 30 hours. With streaming, 25 hrs.
What is the lifespan of the rechargeable batteries?
Your rechargeable batteries should last a little over 4 years. At the end of that period, your hearing provider will have to send them in to ReSound to get the battery replaced. We expect that cost to be around $150-$250 per hearing aid.
How will I know when my battery needs to be charged?
A few minutes before the battery dies, you'll hear Beethoven's Fifth (dun-dun-dun-dun) through the hearing aids, letting you know it's time to charge your hearing aids.
What if I'm on-the-go and my battery dies?
The standard charger that comes with all orders can provide 8 hours of power with just a 30 minute quick charge. If you're always on-the-go and have long days, it's best to buy the Premium charger, because that charger stores 3 full days of charges, allowing you to pull reserve power from it in case you don't have access to electricity. Please note that the Premium charger is only available with the receiver-in-ear (RIE) models, and not the BTE models.
Does the charger include a dehumidifier?
It does not. If you living in a humid environment or are concerned about moisture, we recommend buying the ReSound Dry-Aid Jar, which uses desiccant to remove moisture.
How long do the batteries last?

The 312 battery should last about 5 days. If you stream heavily, it could be a little less. Expect a few days extra from the 13 battery. The CIC model which uses a size 10 battery will last between 2-5 days.

How will I know when it's time to change the battery?
A few minutes before the battery dies, you'll hear Beethoven's Fifth (dun-dun-dun-dun) through the hearing aids, letting you know it's time to change the battery.
Are the batteries hard to change?

For most people, no— the batteries are easy to change. The only model that can be a bit tricky is the CIC model that uses the smallest size 10 battery. If you're concerned about the ease of changing batteries, we'd recommend getting one of the rechargeable models.

How can I control this hearing aid, and which settings can I control?

Using either the pushbutton on the hearing aid, or either of ReSound's (2) remote controls, you can adjust the volume and program. Using the app, you can control volume, program, and base and treble. On the ReSound Custom model, the push-button is able to control the program, volume, and start/stop streaming. On the CIC model, the push-button (optional) can control either the volume or program. Please note the CIC model is completely non-wireless and does not work with Bluetooth, so the only way to control any settings on the CIC model is with the push button.

How do I turn this hearing aid on and off?
If you use the rechargeable model, press and hold the onboard rockerswitch's bottom button down for 3 seconds to turn it on or off. Or, simply place the hearing aid in the charger. If you use a model with disposable batteries, opening the battery door will turn it off, and closing it will turn it on.
Does the app have a “Find My Hearing Aid” feature?
Yes, but in order for it to work your hearing aids must've been paired to your phone before they were lost. The app will show where the hearing aids were located when they were last connected to the app, and what time it was.
Is this hearing aid CROS compatible?
No. None of the ONE models are CROS compatible.
Can I get this hearing aid with a telecoil?
The following models come with a telecoil: RIE 62, BTE 77, BTE 88
Is this hearing aid compatible with Cochlear™ devices?

Yes. ReSound and Cochlear share wireless technology, so you can stream directly to your Cochlear™ Nucleus 7 implant and ReSound ONE RIE or BTE style hearing aid simultaneously from a compatible iOS or Android™ device.

Are M&RIE receivers appropriate for me?
For most people, M&RIE receivers are appropriate, but it does depend on both the shape and severity of your hearing loss. Talk to your hearing professional about this.

Phone Clip +, $259

Phone Clip +, $259

This is a Bluetooth streamer that allows you to stream audio from your phone to your hearing aids. If you have an iPhone, you don't need this, because iPhones directly stream to ReSound hearing aids. If you have an Android or any other phone and you want to stream from your phone, you need this. Even if you have an iPhone, it still may make sense to get this, because it does allow for hands free phone calls. Wear it around your neck and the microphone picks up your voice for the person on the other end of the call to hear, so you don't have to hold you the phone to your mouth when speaking. The streamer also doubles as a basic remote control, allowing you to change the volume and programs of your hearing aids.
