Much better than the others

Very clear. this is not the first hearing aid I have had. the quality of this model is much better then others I have had in the past. the sound comes through crisp and clear without a lot of white noise. I highly recommend this brand. the rechargeable hearing aid is easy to use and I don't have to worry about replacing those tiny batteries every few days.

Very good sound quality

I purchased a "pair" of hearing aids for the first time and for a very reasonable price. The feature I needed most was bluetooth connectivity which my Oticons have with very good sound quality.

Hearing things I wasn't before

The sound quality is amazing. Just wonderful to hear the fountain for the first time since we moved. Also can hear the clock ticking. A little apprehensive about changing the plastic tips. Will stop by the doctor’s office for a review of the procedure. Love my hearing aids. Would recommend them to others.

They sound great

They sound great - no feedback and quite comfortable. Sound is clear. I don't have to turn the radio as loud in my car. Even in a noisy environment (such as a restaurant), voices are clearer and easier to understand. Only drawback is that they have limited support for interfacing with my Android phone.

Seem to be working very well

My Oticon Hearing aids seem to be working very well for me. They are definitely an upgrade from my former pair. They are comfortable and using the features especially with my iPhone work well.

Perform well

I purchased Oticon opn 1 rechargeable. They perform well in a home environment and open areas. After several fine-tuning adjustments (a normal process), they help in a crowded area. My hearing loss is only in higher tones (approximately the range of a woman's voice). They help greatly, but some people talk so softly, I still miss some words in a conversation. Overall, I'm glad I made the purchase and the improved hearing.

I'm very particular about my hearing

As a musician by profession, I'm very particular about my hearing and I have had three sets of Oticon hearing aids over the years. None is better than my present and newest model, Open S1. Crystal clarity and good balance between the two ears makes me feel as if I'm not wearing them at all. Congratulations Oticon!

Sound quality is excellent

These aids are great, sound quality is excellent and they're relatively comfortable. They also came with a three year replacement warranty/insurance program plus a years worth of batteries and other supplies. The provider was also very professional and helpful. I no longer feel left out of conversations.

Common questions about Oticon OPN S hearing aids

Bluetooth / ConnectivityRechargeabilityDisposable BatteriesControls/AppsMiscellaneous

Choose questions category:

Can this hearing aid be paired directly to my Bluetooth TV?
No. To stream audio from the TV you'll need the TV Adapter 3.0
Is this hearing aid Bluetooth compatible?
OPN S is Made for iPhone, which means it can connect directly with iPhones to stream music, phone calls, and more. If you don't have an iPhone, you can still get Bluetooth functionality via the ConnectClip accessory.
Does this hearing aid allow for hands-free phone calls?
Only via the ConnectClip accessory. You'll hear the caller's voice streamed through your hearing aids, but in order for them to hear you, you'd have to either hold the phone to your mouth, or if you want hands-free calling, clip the ConnectClip to your shirt and talk into that. The ConnectClip has a microphone on it that will pick up your voice for the caller, allowing you to keep the phone in your pocket/purse, etc.
How many hours a day do the batteries last?
If you don't do any streaming, the battery should last 20-22 hours. If you stream a few hours a day, battery life will be around 16-18 hours.
What is the lifespan of the rechargeable batteries?
The lithium-ion battery will last 2.5-3 years. When it needs to be replaced, take it to your hearing provider and they can replace the battery in their office.
How will I know when my battery needs to be charged?
A few hours before the battery dies, you'll hear three steady beeps. This will usually happen a few times. Then, right before the battery dies, you'll hear four descending tones.
What if I'm on-the-go and my battery dies?
With proper planning and charging, this should rarely if ever happen. If it does, the only way to charge your hearing aids would be using the charger that came with your hearing aids- Oticon doesn't offer any kind of mini or travel charger. However, a quick charge of 30 minutes will get you 6 hours of power, and if you don't have access to electricity, you could plug your charger into a mobile power pack (like the kind people use for cell phones). You can also plug your charger into any USB port and charge that way.
How long does it take to get a full charge?
A full charge takes 3 hrs and will get you between 16-24 hrs of power. A 30 minute quick charge will get you 6 hours of power.
Does the charger include a dehumidifier?
It does not. If you live in a humid environment or are concerned about moisture exposure, Oticon recommends 'buying the Flow Med Dry-Cap or PerfectDry Lux dehumidifers.
How long do the batteries last?
Battery life will vary depending on several factors. In general, the 312 battery models will last 3.5-5.5 days. If you use the BTE 13, expect a few more days.
How will I know when it's time to change the battery?
A few hours before the battery dies, you'll hear three steady beeps. This will usually happen a few times. Then, right before the battery dies, you'll hear four descending tones.
Are the batteries hard to change?
For most people, no. But if you have poor dexterity, we'd recommend considering the rechargeablel model, so you don't have to change batteries.
How can I control this hearing aid, and which settings can I control?
You can control the volume and program of this hearing aid using the onboard rockerswitch, Remote Control 3.0, or the app. If you use the app, you can also control background noise reduction and tinnitus relief sounds.
How do I turn this hearing aid on and off?
If you use the rechargeable model, press and hold the onboard rockerswitch's bottom button down for 3 seconds to turn it on or off. Or, simply place the hearing aid in the charger. If you use a model with disposable batteries, opening the battery door will turn it off, and closing it will turn it on.
Does the app have a “Find My Hearing Aid” feature?
Yes. However, in order to use this feature, you wouldn've had to have setup the app and paired your hearing aids to your phone, prior to losing them. Once the hearing aids have been paired, if you lose them, the app will help you locate them, so long as the hearing aids are powered on. If the hearing aids are powered off, or if their batteries have died, the app will show you the last location of the hearing aids when they were powered on.
Is this hearing aid CROS compatible?
Yes. All OPN S models are CROS compatible.
Can I get this hearing aid with a telecoil?
The miniRITE R, MiniRITE T, and both BTE models have telecoils.

RATING3
The image of ConnectClip hearing aids
ConnectClip, $249

ConnectClip, $249

ConnectClip has two features. First, it's most commonly used as a Bluetooth streamer that allows you to stream audio from your phone to your hearing aids. If you have an iPhone, you don't need this, because iPhones stream directly to Oticon hearing aids. If you have an Android or any other phone and you want to stream from your phone, you need this. Even if you have an iPhone, it still may make sense to get this, because it does allow for hands free phone calls. Wear it around your neck and the microphone picks up your voice for the person on the other end of the call to hear, so you don't have to hold you the phone to your mouth when speaking. The second feature of ConnectClip is its ability to work as a remote microphone. If you have a hard time hearing in noise this accessory is a lifesaver. Attach the ConnectClip to a companion's shirt and their voice will stream directly to your hearing aids. Their voice will come through much stronger than all the competing noise in the environment.
RATING4
The image of Remote Control 3.0 hearing aids
Remote Control 3.0, $199

Remote Control 3.0, $199

You probably don't need this. Most people use the app to control their hearing aids, and if not the app, then the push button on the hearing aid itself. But if neither of those suit you, this remote is a simple way to control the volume and program.
