ReSound Omnia

Love the everyday details in life

As of October 2023, OMNIA is an outdated hearing aid. If you’re interested in ReSound, we’d recommend checking out the newest ReSound Nexia.

In most cases, we’d recommend checking out the newer ReSound Nexia, but if you’re wanting an in-the-ear model, ReSound Omnia is still going to be appropriate, as the Nexia family of hearing aids is only receiver-in-canal style devices at this time.

I’m really impressed

Review by: Scott from NC
Model: ReSound Omnia 7 RIE 61 Rechargeable
Bought: Aug 2022

Hi, I’m a minister and hearing is very vital to what I do. I got ReSound hearing aids and I love them. I’ve got a hearing loss that I can’t understand the words, but with the ReSound, you see them here, they’re discreet, they’re in my ears, and I can actually hear people talking, in the background, in front of me, I can watch TV without blasting everybody out of the room. It’s a very positive product, a very good product. I’ve had a pair before that lasted a good 7 years and I got them renewed for up to 10 years, and I just got a new pair, I’m hoping to get another 10 years out of them. But I recommend them, I recommend the people, Rick, who did it, my buddy, just an excellent person. But um, I’m really impressed with the product and it’s very good for me, thank you.

These are my 4th set of hearing aids

Review by: Gary from VA
Model: ReSound Omnia 9 RIE 61 Rechargeable
Bought: Nov 2022

Hello my name is Gary, I’m 69 years old and I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I've had hearing issues most of my life which has mainly affected my hearing at the high frequencies. As a young person my hearing was just a little bit below normal so I could get by without hearing aids but as I've aged my hearing loss has become more severe as a result. I’ve been wearing hearing aids for the last 20 years. I’m currently on my 4th set of hearing aids which I've purchased my latest set from ZipHearing. And this is the model I chose. This is the ReSound Omnia and I chose this model for several reasons. The first, I chose it because it's a RIE, or receiver in ear, model and it has the power I need for my particular type of hearing loss which is pretty severe. Plus the fact the majority of the hearing aid is actually situated behind the ear which makes it inconspicuous. The second reason I chose this is because it's a rechargeable model uh there are no batteries, I just stick it in the charger at night which comes with the hearing aids, this is right it goes in the right hand side. I wake up in the morning and it's charged so there's no maintenance, or batteries, buying batteries, and storing batteries that sort of thing like that. Third I chose this because it has a button on the top that you can control right here, you can control it locally with the hearing aid itself or Resound has an app that you can use on your smartphone. You can control it from your smartphone if you have bluetooth. I chose this model because I use the bluetooth a lot that's mostly how I control it. I have 4 programs situated in this hearing aid. And one is for normal hearing which is uh like we are now, one is for noisy environments such as restaurants and things like that, one is for outside and uh one is for music. So, also as a side note I struggle with tinnitus, uh ringing in the ears. Resound provides a tinnitus app which I downloaded to my smartphone and I can play various sounds that help overcome the ringing and I find this very helpful. So, would I recommend these hearing aids? Absolutely. I've owned these ReSound Omnias for about 3 months and they have been great, I’ve had no issues with them whatsoever. As I previously mentioned, these ReSound Omias are my 4th set of hearing aids. My previous 3 sets were made by Starkey, which I purchased through a local hearing specialist brick and mortar store. I was happy with the Starkey hearing aids but my last pair was about 6 years old and technology had passed it by. So I probably would have stayed with the Starkey, but my hearing, my ZipHearing specialist Sean Buttler recommended the ReSound hearing aids and I’m completely satisfied, I’m glad he did. Not to mention the fact that I saved a significant amount of money going through ZipHearing. So if I had one piece of advice for anybody who is considering hearing aids, I would say contact ZipHearing and they'll put you in touch with a hearing specialist that can analyze your hearing problem and provide a recommendation on a model that you can try before you buy, okay? Thank you very much.

I'm kicking myself

Review by: Marian from NJ
Model: ReSound Omnia 9 RIE 61 Rechargeable
Bought: Feb 2023

Hi, my name is Marian and I want to tell you a little bit about myself and about why I got the hearing aids from zip hearing. I put off getting hearing aids for a long time. I'd probably say the last four years and at the age of 76 and which was actually I got them about six months ago and I'll be 77 next month. So, I put it off for a long time. But anyway, I'm kicking myself now because I wish I had gotten them sooner. I didn't realize like how much I really truly was missing. And I put them off because friends and family members, including my husband, were having problems with their hearing aids that they had gotten from another manufacturer. And the ones I ended up getting are resound GN, read a lot online about them, a lot of good reviews. So, we decided to give it a try. I'll show them to you here. This is the case where I put them in each night to charge them. I decided to do it this way rather than getting the ones with batteries because I didn't want to have to always be changing the batteries. Like in the middle of, you know, wherever we were or whatever we were doing. So this has been working out really well. Here they are. They're little. Very little. And they're very simple. To put on. So just slip it up here and then slip this part in here and the same thing with the other side and we don't know if you can see them here, just tiny. And people can't believe, even when I show them that I have hearing aids. They are like, but I can't see them. I can't see them. So, it just sucks in here like this and tucks in here like that. And you push them in far not going to hurt anything. And I don't know if you can even see them, but there they are. Anyway, like I said, they're called the resound GN and, I decided to go ahead and give these a try. And I have found that especially when I'm with a group of people, that they, I cannot believe how much better I hear my hair is getting in the way right now. But anyway, there we go. I had a really hard time before hearing people, especially when we're in a group and if someone was sitting even in a small room, the further away they were, the more I wasn't able to hear them. But now with these on, I can hear them fine. And I'm, I can't believe that I was missing out on so much before. I don't have to continually say to people, you know, what did you say, repeat that. Please talk louder or anything like that. I just want to encourage you, if you've been thinking you should get hearing aids or your family is telling you should get hearing aids, you really, really should go ahead and try the resound hearing aids. They're excellent and they're worth every penny, so don't put it off. Go ahead and get your resound hearing aids.

I do not even feel like I have them in my ears

Review by: Kevin from UT
Model: ReSound Omnia 9 RIE 61 Rechargeable
Bought: May 2023

Hello, my name is Kevin. I am a retired attorney, and I am going to review some hearing aids. My history of looking into hearing aids is that for a couple of years now, I have noticed that it was a hard time hearing and understanding people's especially some people, some people's registers seem to be hard for me to hear. In addition, my wife was having difficulty hearing, and so I decided that I had better go in and have my hearing tested. I had it tested, and I came back with moderate hearing loss. They recommended the audiologist that I went to recommended that I purchase some hearing aids. So, we talked about what brand of hearing aids to purchase and why I decided to buy the Resound, hearing aids, the Omnia series 9 rechargeable hearing aids, and I bought them for a couple of reasons. One reason is that they integrated very nicely with my iPhone. I can make calls through my hearing aids. I can stream podcasts and YouTube videos and whatnot through my hearing aid, through my hearing aids, and I can control my hearing aids through the app that works on my iPhone. I also had a chance to test a couple of different hearing aids in the office, and I found that the Resound hearing aids were better at improving the high end of the spectrum where I had difficulty hearing. And so, I decided that I would go ahead and purchase those. So here I am going to show you a picture of the hearing aids. Here are the hearing aids. They fit behind my ears. And in fact, they are very comfortable. And after an hour or two wearing them, I do not even feel like I have them in my ears. And here is a charger. The charger that I we use, and you put them in the charger, and they are inductively charged so you do not have to worry about plugging something in. I would like if anybody were thinking about hearing aids, I would recommend going immediately or as soon as possible to have your hearing tested and decide whether a hearing aid is appropriate. The audiologist tells me from my own research, I believe it is true that purchasing hearing aids and using them for their hearing loss can be halted. And in addition, it is just better hearing. It is just a better experience. I connect better with people, and I can hear better. It is just and it is a better experience. And for some reason there is a bit of a stigma attached to hearing aids. I am not sure why I wear glasses. I have worn glasses since I was in fourth grade, but there does seem to be a bit of a stigma attached to hearing aids, and I do not think there should be. If you have hearing loss, hearing aids help quite a bit. Anyway, I hope that helps.

Excellent new hearing aids

The Omnia 9 powered by batteries 13 is incredible. I can now hear the doorbell and the phone ring. My voice sounds like my voice and the clarity is exceptional. The Omnia rechargeable was not reliable but I found the battery operated had clearer more natural sound and faster connectivity. The switch to the battery Omnia provided a much more satisfying experience. The app was faster and more automatic. Dealing with the courteous professional people at zip made buying hearing aids a comfortable process.

Top notch

Sound quality is excellent. Noise suppression is the best I've found and I had tried and returned several top rated aids prior to this one (I am single sided deaf.) The smartphone application gives you complete control over the sound. You can fine tune level of noise suppression as well as microphone focus. Supports T-coil if you go to the battery model (which I prefer) vs. rechargeable.

Extremely happy with new hearing aids

I have only had the hearing aids for 2 weeks, but have no complaints so far. Sound quality is great! These hearing aids are a newer model of the hearing aids they replaced, but these new ones are a massive improvement over my last pair. I really like that they are rechargeable and I no longer have to fuss with batteries. I do a lot of streaming from my iPhone and TV and I was changing batteries about every other day.

New to Hearing Aids

I first tried a custom (earbud style) from a maker I will not name and was unsatisfied. With no questions asked, they were returned within 45 days. I switched to Resound Omnia RIE 61R's and could not be happier. Great sound, superb tinnitus management, front focus, and unbelievable in windy conditions. The premium charger works as advertised. My only complaint is the app is hard to see in bright sunlight (not enough contrast). I could not finish this review without noting that Jeff Hall is the epitome of excellent customer satisfaction!

I love my new hearing aides!

The sound quality is excellent, as if it’s my own hearing as I was able to hear before. They are durable & reliable. I’m so, so thankful to finally be able to hear clearly once again! They are so small that even when I try to show a friend, they have trouble seeing them!

Preforms as advertised

The sound quality is very close to natural sound. I am able to understand the words that a person speaks now. I can now hear the subtle background instruments when listening to music. My hearing aids are so comfortable that I do not know I am wearing them. My old hearing aids were battery and my new ones are rechargeable. I love the convenience and easier care of my new aids. If something happened to my new hearing aids, I'd purchase the same model.

Worth the cost

Resound Omnia have very good sound quality. They work for my level of hearing loss which is severe. They are MFi . Download the smartphone 3D app and pair them to your phone. You will have control of many features such as volumen and filters for different enviroments. They are somewhat expensive but are worth the cost.

My new ReSound Omnia 7's are superb

The Omnia 7 aids I purchased through ZipHearing have made a significant difference in my ability to hear conversations between actors when streaming movies or other videos ... I no longer have to rewind or ask my wife what the characters said. They quality of the hearing is good in private conversations, when separated from another speaker by a room or two, in restaurants and outdoors (I got a big kick out of knocking down the wind noise during a gusty day several weeks ago, something that used to bother me a lot with my previous hearing aids). Three aspects of the Omnia 7's make them especially beneficial: 1) They are very comfortable, and go largely unnoticed after I put them on 2) The rechargeable batteries eliminate the hassle of changing batteries, which was a bit of an impediment to using my previous aids 3) The ReSound iPhone app is terrific, intuitive and very easy to use.

Does this hearing aid allow for hands-free phone calls?

ReSound Omnia allows for hands-free calls with iPhone 11 or newer and iOS 15.3 or newer, that means you can take calls without needing to physically hold the iPhone. If you use any other phone, you'll need to purchase the ReSound Phone Clip + accessory and keep it clipped to your shirt collar or worn around your neck during calls, so the caller can you hear via the microphone on that accessory.

Can this hearing aid be paired directly to my Bluetooth TV?
No. To stream audio from the TV you'll need the Unite TV 2 streamer.
Is this hearing aid Bluetooth compatible?
Omnia is Made for iPhone, which means it can connect directly with iPhones to stream music, phone calls, and more. If your phone isn't directly compatible with Omnia, you can still get Bluetooth functionality via the Phone Clip +.

Your rechargeable batteries should last a little over 4 years. At the end of that period, your hearing provider will have to send them in to ReSound to get the battery replaced. We expect that cost to be around $150-$250 per hearing aid.
How many hours a day do the batteries last?
With no streaming, your battery will last an industry best 30 hours. With streaming, 25 hrs.

A few minutes before the battery dies, you'll hear Beethoven's Fifth (dun-dun-dun-dun) through the hearing aids, letting you know it's time to charge your hearing aids.
What if I'm on-the-go and my battery dies?
The desktop charger that comes with all orders can provide 8 hours of power with just a 30 minute quick charge. If you're always on-the-go and have long days, it's best to buy the Premium charger, because that charger stores 3 full days of charges, allowing you to pull reserve power from it in case you don't have access to electricity. Please note that the Premium charger is only available with the receiver-in-ear(RIE) models, and not the BTE models.
How long does it take to get a full charge?
Your hearing aids are fully charged in 3 hours, providing 25-30 hours of use. A 30 minute quick charge provides 8 hours of power.
Does the charger include a dehumidifier?
It does not. If you living in a humid environment or are concerned about moisture, we recommend buying the ReSound Dry-Aid Jar, which uses desiccant to remove moisture.
How long do the batteries last?
The 312 battery should last about 5 days. If you stream heavily, it could be a little less. Expect a few days extra from the 13 battery.
How will I know when it's time to change the battery?
A few minutes before the battery dies, you'll hear Beethoven's Fifth (dun-dun-dun-dun) through the hearing aids, letting you know it's time to change the battery.
Are the batteries hard to change?
For most people, no. But if you're concerned about this, we'd recommend getting the RIE 62 version, which uses a 13 battery that'll be easier to change than the 312. Or, just get the rechargeable model so you don't have to bother changing batteries.
How can I control this hearing aid, and which settings can I control?

Using either the push-button on the hearing aid, or either of ReSound's (2) remote controls, you can adjust the volume and program. Using the app, you can control volume, program, and base and treble. On the ITC and ITE model, the push-button is able to control the program, volume, and start/stop streaming. On the CIC model, the push-button (optional) can control either the volume or program. Please note the CIC model is completely non-wireless and does not work with Bluetooth, so the only way to control any settings on the CIC model is with the push button.

How do I turn this hearing aid on and off?
If you use the rechargeable model, press and hold the onboard rockerswitch's bottom button down for 3 seconds to turn it on or off. Or, simply place the hearing aid in the charger. If you use a model with disposable batteries, opening the battery door will turn it off, and closing it will turn it on.
Does the app have a “Find My Hearing Aid” feature?
Yes, but in order for it to work your hearing aids must've been paired to your phone before they were lost. The app will show where the hearing aids were located when they were last connected to the app, and what time it was.
Is this hearing aid compatible with Cochlear™ devices?
As of the launch date in late August of, 2022, we could not get a definitive answer from ReSound on this question, but we do except Omnia to be compatible with Cochlear devices. Please contact us regarding this question and we'll update you with the latest info.
Is this hearing aid CROS compatible?
No. None of the Omnia models are CROS compatible.
Can I get this hearing aid with a telecoil?
The RIE 62 model comes with a telecoil.
ReSound One vs. Omnia
On the outside, ReSound One and Omnia look the same. It's the inside that sets them apart. ReSound Omnia provides significantly better hearing in noisy environments than any previous ReSound hearing aid, in fact ReSound says Omnia delivers a 150% improvement in speech understanding compared to previous models. ReSound has also made the user's own voice sound more tolerable/normal with the new Omnia model. There's also a new feature with Omnia, called 'Check My Fit' which gives users guidance to wear their hearing aids correctly via a quick ear selfie. Wearing hearing aids incorrectly can result in up to 11dB of sound escaping the ear, reducing the ability to hear considerably.

Relief app is arguably the most advanced app (anywhere) for managing tinnitus. Its features include soothing sounds and imagery, guided meditation, breathing and relaxation exercises, and insightful tips that anyone can understand and apply. Some of the latest Android phones running the latest Android OS can also stream these sounds directly to the hearing aids. Phone Clip +, $259

Phone Clip +, $259

This is a Bluetooth streamer that allows you to stream audio from your phone to your hearing aids. If you have an iPhone, you don't need this, because iPhones directly stream to ReSound hearing aids. If you have an Android or any other phone and you want to stream from your phone, you need this. Even if you have an iPhone, it still may make sense to get this, because it does allow for hands free phone calls. Wear it around your neck and the microphone picks up your voice for the person on the other end of the call to hear, so you don't have to hold you the phone to your mouth when speaking. The streamer also doubles as a basic remote control, allowing you to change the volume and programs of your hearing aids.

KEY FEATURES

1. Dome

The image of Dome hearing aids feature

The dome slips over and encloses/protects the receiver/speaker. Domes are made with medical-grade silicone. They come in different shapes and sizes—your hearing care professional will help you pick the right size and style. Selecting the appropriate dome will change the sound performance of your hearing aids, so if you’re not achieving satisfying results with your hearing aids, your hearing provider will often consider trying a different dome style. In some cases, such as for wearers with severe or profound hearing loss, an earmold will be used instead of a dome.

2. Indicator light

The image of Indicator light hearing aids feature

The LED indicator light shows the charging state of the battery. Light blinks slowly during charging. When fully charged, the light remains constant, not blinking.

3. Microphone

The image of Microphone hearing aids feature

The microphone picks up the sound from the environment and sends it into the hearing aid for processing. You’ll mostly want to leave the microphone alone, but periodically check it to ensure it’s not being plugged up by hair care products or oils.

4. Receiver

The image of Receiver hearing aids feature

The receiver AKA speaker delivers the sound into the ear. ReSound receivers are available in 4 different strengths, low power (LP), medium power (MP), high power (HP), and ultra power (UP). Optional M&RIE receiver (as shown) features a built-in microphone for improved localization of sound, available in an LP strength only. Your ZipHearing provider will help you determine the appropriate gain (strength/power) receiver based on the results of your hearing test. Expect to have to replace your receivers every year or so, and this is something that usually takes just a few minutes with your local ZipHearing provider.

5. Receiver wire

The image of Receiver wire hearing aids feature

This thin, plastic-coated wire transmits power and signals to the receiver/speaker, which is worn inside the ear. ReSound receivers are available in 5 different lengths: 1,2,3 & 4. Your ZipHearing provider will help you determine the appropriate length of receiver wire, by measuring your ear. In cases when your ZipHearing provider is unsure of the exact receiver length that will work best for you, we’re happy to send out a few different receiver lengths for you to try.

6. Rechargeable or disposable batteries

The image of Rechargeable or disposable batteries hearing aids feature

The model shown is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, expected to last 25-30 hours/day. The battery takes about 3 hours to fully charge, and a 30 minute quick charge will get you about 6 hours of power. Most people do buy the rechargeable model, and simply put the aids in a charger next to their bed at night, allowing them to wake up with fully charged hearing aids. Other models shown on this page (below) can be powered by a disposable size 312, 13, or 10 battery. These disposable batteries will last anywhere from 3-10 days, depending on how much Bluetooth streaming you do. Your purchase from ZipHearing includes a 1 year supply of disposable batteries.

7. Push button

The image of Push button hearing aids feature

The push button can be programmed by your hearing provider to control either the volume, program, and with iPhone 11 or newer, it can start/stop streaming and answer/end phone calls. In addition, a long press and hold turns the hearing aid off. Some people use this exclusively to control the hearing aids, and others use the app to control the hearing aids. Others (most people), use a combination of both the app and push button to make adjustments to their hearing aids. You likely won’t have to use this button often, but some people find them handy to make quick adjustments to their hearing aids when they change listening environments (ie, entering a noisy restaurant, or a quiet room). Your hearing provider will go over the options available and make sure your hearing aids are set up to your ideal preferences.

8. Water resistant

The image of Water resistant hearing aids feature

Omnia has an IP68 rating, with nanocoating on all components, meaning it’s protected from dust getting inside and can withstand exposure to water, though caution around water is highly recommended.

9. Wax filter

The image of Wax filter hearing aids feature

When it comes to maintaining your hearing aids, this is where you’ll spend most of your time. The wax filter (mostly) prevents wax and oils from getting into the receiver/speaker. Your hearing provider may supply you with ReSound’s wax filters enabling you to periodically change these on your own. Some people never have to change these wax filters, others have to change them weekly. Your purchase includes 1 pack of wax filters, and you can purchase additional wax filters directly from your ZipHearing provider, or through a number of sites online such as Amazon.
